90' century 3.3L V6,problem w/ sustaing idle at start

Hello.

I started to have a problem with starting the car first in the morning about a year ago. My car has passed 200,000 miles and runs smoothly on highway.

However, when I first start it in the morning, it has a hard time starting and keeping the idle. I usually rev it up high to keep the idle but the car shakes and frequently stops. Starter is moving, (it is cranking), and there is enough juice in battery, the spark plug was working ok(at least three of the fronts).

One interesting thing I noticed about the start-up is that it sometimes sound like it backfired (bom sound) when it does not start. But, once I drive for quater mile, there is no problem at all. It has never stoped in the middle of road.

Now when I start it 2nd or 3rd time, it starts better, but still not as good as it used to be. I usually have to rev it up and the car does not respond to the gas as fast.

There is no warning lamp with this problem and I would like to fix it. Thank you for helping me out!!!

Sounds lean when cold, and perhaps later when hot.
Check your sensors, MAF, IAT, CTS. When hot O2 sensor may be the culprit.

You could start easy by disconnecting the battery for 20 seconds and see if theres an improvement for a while. This would reset your PCM and relearn the cold start settings.

If you get into the throttle and it dies off its lean at that time, assuming compression and spark is good.

Try cleaning the MAF if you have one and the throttle body, check for BLUE strong spark.

Good luck

Thank you, Bass.
I checked these problems, but no indication of faulty parts.

However, as I was gazing at the engine, I remembered that this whole thing started after the guys at Brake Masters serviced my car for Fuel Injector Service, and they blew one of the tube on top of the engine. They glewed it back together. So, I took a small plastic with 4 tubes going into, off of the engine and took a look inside. One hose was almost clogged. After I cleaned it, the car had no problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, maybe it was a vacume problem. But, you motivated me to do something, and this thought and action came afterward!!

Thank you.
