ABS brake light on 95 blazerkappy1 02-14-2007, 06:15 AM Hi Mu antilock brake light came on and it feels like the ABS brakes do not work brakes feel fine other than that, the light went off I could tell the anti locks work, stopping in the snow then it went on again so as of now it is intermittin,, what should I check or replace like I said brakes are fine 6 months ago I put all new everything all the way around is there a relay or something going bad thank you kappy1 ZL1power69 02-14-2007, 09:15 AM welcome to af. when the abs light is on the system will not work. -check the wheel speed sensors for loose conections or excessive dirt build up - check the abs control unit for loose conections - make sure the fuse is good. Have you scanned the computer for abs codes? that will help pin point the issue. jmagerl 02-14-2007, 12:33 PM There is an internal relay that controls the power to the pump motor. It is not replacable unless you do the whole unit. My 96 relay went out after 120K miles. I never understood why they would build in a component that would 100% fail over time. To replace an entire unit for $1000 when a $5 relay failed is inexcusable from a design stand point. From a more likely senario check the wheel speed sensors. You will need to read out the error codes to be sure of what it is. watch when the light comes on. at 7mph the pump motor is self checked. No I never fixed mine. I took it apart to the point where I could push the relay in manually just to verify if it was the relay (it was). that was 80K miles ago kappy1 02-14-2007, 05:13 PM wow,, thanks guys ,, what a great site,,, I drive the older vehicles and the wife gets the new ones.... I do not like payments and enjoy working on mine at times. LOL looks like I have to see what the codes are... that will cost me some cash I would think.. and then take it from there.. where is the abs unit located and the wheel sensors.. jmager... like you said maybe I will just do without.. but that dummy light will stay on... Is this ok to just say the heck with it.... I have 137 thou on the truck thanks again vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
