racing with ones girlfriend/wife/friend

I always seem to get into races where the other guy has a girl with him.

I have many friends who love racing, and they love to ride along.
My girl loves it too, and she gets a real kick outa it.

I'd race with a passenger. I've raced alone, hell, I've even raced with a full car.

I wont do it if anyone says don't. If my wife's in the car, she usually says "What are you waiting for? Kick his ass!" which is always a good sign :D

Passengers just add weight to your ride... ;) :p

i wish my wife liked the racing , or at leaste acted like it because i like it but she hates it.

its notta big deal to see a v12 haul ass it doesnt have to try for it.
but seeing a 4 cylinder take a corvette. now thats sweet. i downloaded a race with a corvette with a hatch 96 civic.. that civic burned that vette.
anyone know a good way to talk her into it?
i say jetta becuase she said she wanted one. but she doesnt have it in her to get rid of the cougar .. wich i might add only has 1600 miles on it..

I prefer not to, dont like jeapardizing other people's lives (passenger) if somethin goes wrong.

Depends who's with me. If my passengers are guys, then I figure they knew the risks when they got in my car. Regardless of what they say I'm still gonna race. If the passengers a girl I don't even think about racing unless they tell me to cause I'm terrified of hurting a girl. I know it's a blatant double standard but I don't care.

I think we all know my take on this subject....i'm with NoMotive on this one.

Like I said back when... I'll race with one particular friend. He's big, strong and very omnimous. When somebody doesn't give up the cash after losing a race I let him do his thing. But he moved so I race alone.

I used to race with people in the car back when I first got my Civic, but then I got a little more intelligence from God knows where and stopped. I've raced with 1 person in the car twice and I raced with a full car (3 of my best friends) 2 weeks ago because some bastard in a STOCK 89 Mazda 626 was yelling shit and trying to get me to race off the line. I wouldn't race him the first time but then he gets next to me again and revs and everything and I sincerely felt the need to put that dirty bastard in his place. I asked my friends. They told me to go for it and I went for it and I put that little poser in his place and was done. Haven't raced anyone since and that was a good 2 months ago.

IMO if the passengers want to race i say race. Its their life and decision. But if they say no then is not cool to jeopardise their lives only because you want to.

I completely agree there, besides you and I usually just race from light to light. We never get into any dangerous situations, except for the roundabout drifting, but I was alone when I did that.

It depends on who da passenger is. I'm itz one of mah boyz then go for it, but if mah girl is ridin, and she doesn't want me too, then it'll have to wait till i drop her off

If any of you others follow this method then get their permission in writing or something. The law is charging the driver with manslaughter now if you get in an accident and the passenger dies.

Now it goes that if you're going 30 over the speed limit and get caught with passengers, they can charge you with attempted manslaughter and you go straight to court.

If I can find a link I will. I know it's genuine and not some rumor because it happened to a kid I know straight outta college and he juts got out of jail awaiting trial with a couple thousand bail. on attempted manslaughter charges and excessive speeding. It looks like he could spend a number of months in jail and lose his license permanently. too bad. And the worst part is his friend that was in the car can't drop the charges, even though their charging in his name. :( assholes.

I'm moving to Montana where there's no speed limits, even though I'll be the only one in the state without a pickup and there'll be absolutely nobody to race but hey, I geta go as fast as I want so thats a +

where is this law currently in affect? I wish to see documentation..... I was under the impression that this law was never passed? I am farmiliar with house rep. involvment though. I know it was presented)

I have raced with my buddies in the car, cause we are all into racing and the thrill of it. I will not race with my girl in the car unless she really wants to, and even then im still uneasy about it.

Even if this law didn't pass, the police are still out for the import drivers. it seems that you can't go down the road doin the speed-limit without having one follow you for a few minutes. on the freeway coming up from seattle, i had a state patrol follow me for atleast 15 minutes, just sitting there next to me, then falling back to my rear fender, then next to me etc...then up in my city, if they see an asian in an "asian" car, they'll pull u over an find something to write you for. its all bullshit, my father is a part of the police, so im not gonna say all are bad, but for the most part, city police, and state patrol are fuckin morons. the only ones that have any common sence or decency are the county sherriffs. to the rest of the police: :finger4:

Most everybody else I know raced with a passenger also , for the same reason...

Saved my ass from a ticket more than a few times , lemee tell ya....:eek:

I dunno about the rest of you...but I never let a race get past 80mph or so... , If I was ahead or behind by a few lengths at that point..there was no point in going faster:rolleyes:

well the only time I will ever race with a passenger is if they want to or if I want to scare them a little bit. mostly just for fun, I don't race anyone for money or anything, and my car is'nt that stacked for street racing anyways. I just like the adrenaline... Mostly I like doing a like drag by myself (less weight, and less power needed to pull me to 60+). but when I'm with friends and on a non-patroled backroad, I'll hightail it, and take smooth gradual corners at a good 50-65 mph. Sometimes I just gun it for the G-forces you get when gunning the gas.. If somone says no, or my parents are in the car I drive normal, and keep the system down.

Well, your right. I once raced a Corvette to 150, I will never do that again cuz I know if I blinked I would have killed myself. It was at night too! What can I say, I was 16 and got a car that was way to fast. Still have it though, but I settled down.
