2003 Ram 2500 8800 GVW ridetwistedtech 02-07-2007, 08:54 AM I've got a 03 2500 quad in here that you can hardly keep on the road when it's rough. Bounces real hard in the azz end and it seems like it is hard to keep the front in line when it starts. The boss thinks it's a suspension issue ( bad part someplace) I can't seem to find anything. Anyone have that issuse or seen it? 03 quad shorty 4x4 8800lbs gvw. 2.2 Straight six 02-07-2007, 04:40 PM sounds like the rear dampers/shocks are done for, if the tail's bouncing that means that they're not stopping the srings from rebounding. twistedtech 02-08-2007, 06:21 AM I guess I should not have said bouncing. I'm not talking about bad shocks, I mean like a welded solid rear diff. Just like your on a washboard spot and it skips across the tops.It don't take much to get it to go. I think the truck just has a wicked tough suspension. The rear axle wieght is 6200lbs. That's a crap load of suspension. twistedtech 02-09-2007, 08:39 PM No takers eh. funcruise 02-09-2007, 10:13 PM Ok well first, how much air in the back tires. The 2500s have stiff suspension when empty so a cuppla bags of gravel or stone dust or something like that will help. When Im running empty I only keep 50lbs in the back tires and 60lbs in the fronts. Of course if you load her up you can air them up depending on how much waight your going to carry or pull. How many ply sidewalls do your tires have? Only other thing if that doesnt help is to take out a leaf from each side or stay off those rough roads.............. 04cummins 02-22-2007, 04:48 PM why are you complaining about a rough ride when you bought a 3/4ton? I mean they are ment for loads in the back and pulling. Futhermore if you have a cummins you have all that weight up in front and nothing really in the rear. If you want a smooth ride by a half ton funcruise 02-22-2007, 07:34 PM Well that was rather harsh..... fanworks 02-23-2007, 07:04 AM The suspension springs on Dodge's 250 line have always been hard as bricks, my W-250 is testimony to that. My advice is to get a few bags of traction sand and throw them in the truck bed right over the axle. The extra weight will cause the suspension to move more with less rebound, softening the rear ride. Also, if she's empty, and you've got E-range tires, try running them at around 65 PSI, this will also soften the rear end, but may affect your gas mileage. 04cummins 02-23-2007, 11:10 AM it maybe harsh but isn't it the truth? twistedtech 02-23-2007, 05:49 PM why are you complaining about a rough ride when you bought a 3/4ton? I mean they are ment for loads in the back and pulling. Futhermore if you have a cummins you have all that weight up in front and nothing really in the rear. If you want a smooth ride by a half ton For starters I never once said I owned it,I also never said anything about a diesel. Mr.04cummings I have been a tech for 23 years and was not asking for your opinion on why I bought this truck and then stated to complain. I was asking if any other 2500 hd owners had some input as to how this truck rides. It is more than possible that I missed something when looking over this truck. As for your input,I can only speak for myself here, please don't respond to any more of my questions.I'm sure there are other places that will gladly take that kind of tude. twistedtech 02-23-2007, 05:52 PM I've been tryin to tell the boss this and he is scared to put the truck out on the lot and have some monkey go for a drive a dump the thing. I told him right from the start it was just the way the truck is and that's it. Now I have something to show him. 04cummins 02-23-2007, 11:08 PM I am sry, I was just saying cause i hear that all day long. people coming in complaining about how it rides too rough and jumping all over the place, its just people want a work truck to ride like a cadilliac. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
