98 Eighty Eight problems CEL

Alright, I have a 1998 Olds 88. It has the 3800 series II engine. This past weekend my husband and I were coming home from Akron and the car started "bucking"? It was very hesitant and it was cutting out a lot. The check engine light came on. We pulled over and let it idle for a while since we were so far from home. After idling a while we took off again and it eventually came out of its fit. The light went off. Today I had the same problem, though not as bad. Can anyone give me any ideas as to what is going on? The car has around 130,000 miles if I remember right, give or take a few thousand. :banghead: :feedback:

When the CEL illuminated, it more than likely stored a code that would give you a good indication of where the problem is. Just guessing here, but it sounds ignition related. I.e. crank sensor or ignition module. You can have the codes checked at Advanced Auto or AutoZone, free! :grinyes: Post back with the codes and we can go from there.
BTW, welcome to AF!
