Hey....... I just got a racing air filter. It is very nice and for anyone that is having problems getting up to speed or it is kicking in high speeds un-till a certain point i would HIGHLY RECCOMEND getting on. They are 25 dollars at pep boys and make s00000000 much of a differnce. Even if you are not a racer i would still reccomend it. It is VERY easy to install and if you want look under your hood right by the battery there is a black box "which is the air fliter" which comes out quick with 4 bolts to unscrew then just drive to auto store and you can have them install it or you can......... REPLY PLEASE

I just got a 1993 Corsica and am pleased with its stock performance, its obviously only a corsica but i like it. How much of a difference does the air filter make?

Did you get a cone air filter or what?

From the sounds of it redman just changed out the stock filter with a better brand. That is if I am reading his post right.
For even better performance look into getting a CAI (or cone filter) setup and open up the exhaust. Then after doing that, you can try to get a bigger throttle body.
Now for the comment about "it's just a corsica".. hehe, yea this is true, but a beretta is just a beretta, have you seen what they can do? The corsica can do the same thing, IF not better.

id also say a corsica can do better, since it is slightly lighter than the beretta

yeah, a 3.1 5spd corsica can beat alot of berettas, but no corsica will look as nice as a beretta.

if all you did was put a cone filter INSIDE your HOT engine bay, you probably gained no more than 1/2 a horsepower and got a nifty noisemaker. get some pipe and put that thing in your grill if you want to see any actual gains..

i am a corsica racer. i have a 92' 3.1 with a K&N cold air intake, a computer chip, and I also opened up the exhaust and many other things. doing this has made one hell of a difference. i have beaten many cars and i am still doing things to my corsy!!!! they are WAAAAAY faster than berettas. at first i started to race my corsica just to goof off and beat the shit outta sum of the foreign cars (hondas, eclipses, ect) but when i found out what kind of potential these cars have i went further into it. if you know what you are doing these cars can be FAST! soon i will have pics on here and u can check them out to maybe get some ideas :) peace! if you really wanna get the corsica goin faster than just change the exaust with headers from a 90 grand prix and throw the turbo from the grandpirx in there im pretty sure it will fit and it will get ya goin

Sadly, there just isnt enough rooom to fit all that under the hood of a corsica. Or else I would have done it allready :grinno:

yea well i found on accident that if you cut the exust pipe before the cat then it makes it go a lil faster and makes ur car a lil bit louder

i cant belive that any of you would want to race a corsica they are not ment for racing or sport use of any kind there is no point in putting in a "new air filter to help the accl" i just think it is funny how you guys are talking like these cars have somthing to prove just in case you forgot these cars are not only week but are slow off the line i laugh at any of you that think they stack up against any kind of import my suggestion to you is not to waste your money on a slow car save it and spend it on somthing whorth while

Wow, is a Corsica ment for racing. We'll to be honost nothing is, it's just on your preference of what you want to use it for. Me, I race just about anything that wants to race me. Some times I loose but majority of the time I win and suprise the hell out of quite a few people. Check out my web site for some modification ideas, and keep on modding your Corsica to, www.cardomain.com/id/original6910.

I forgot, every one ask me, "Why a Corsica?" my reply to this "Dare to be Different". Oh and as for OhYaThEcOoLeSt he is only afraid that one day his lil Honda is going to be passed by some lil old granny in a 4 dr sdn. HAHAHA!

Yeah, I have raced.. took a couple civics to the track to show em what was up (they thought my Corsica was a joke until the numbers came up).

Engine Mods to date:

Manta Cams

RSM Racing Throttle Body, Cold Air Intake and Ported Upper and Lower manifolds

JetChip

Marren Injectors

Nology Wires

Xtreme Flow Muffler and Cat

Suspension Mods to date:

Eibach Springs and Strut Bars

I recently added American Performance Rotors (slotted) and Ceramic pads.. working on converting rear to disk.

Corsicas aint no joke on the track.

Friend's father has one and I was surprised how fast it is. It can easily take base model civics. They are even pretty good from a dump against a DOHC Civic/Integra, but seems to die up top. I'd love to have a nice beater like that. Makes for a great sleeper against ricers.

The average honda is just driven by a stupid ricer who got the car from his grandma, but look for the higher end(lol, oxymoron) sport compacts and see what you can do against those.

See, the above poster with those mods seems serious about performance. You have to make sure you don't go up against let's say a SOHC vtec civic with a fart can and intake and consider him equally modded. You'd be surprised what a stock SI could do to you up top.
