2004 powertrain warrantyfredjacksonsan 01-31-2007, 08:33 PM Anyone know where online to locate the 7/70 Chrysler powertrain warranty for a2004? corning_d3 01-31-2007, 09:19 PM I got this from my DealerConnect account so.. Since you didn't ask for a specific thing, I posted it all.. 2.2 Powertrain Limited Warranty A. Who is Covered? You are covered by the Powertrain Limited Warranty if you are the first purchaser for use of the vehicle. You are also covered if you are the second purchaser for use of the vehicle, and have paid the $150 transfer fee within 30 days of purchase. See Section 2.2.F for more information about transfer of coverage. B. What’s Covered The Powertrain Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed (less a $100 deductible per repair visit at the end of the 3 Year/36,000 Mile Basic Limited Warranty) to repair a defective powertrain component on your vehicle listed in section 2.2.I below supplied by DaimlerChrysler Corporation that is defective in material, workmanship or factory preparation. C. Towing Costs Are Covered The Powertrain Warranty covers the cost of towing your truck to the nearest Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer if your truck can’t be driven because a covered part has failed. D. When It Begins The Powertrain Warranty begins at the end of the Basic Limited Warranty, on either of the following dates, whichever is earlier: • the date your truck has been in service for more than 36 months; or • the date you've put more than 36, 000 miles on the odometer. E. When It Ends The Powertrain Warranty lasts for 7 years from the date your truck has been in-service or 70,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first, to the first owner. F. Transfer of Powertrain Warranty For Vehicles Built On or After 10/1/2003 You can determine if your vehicle was built on or after 10/1/2003 by looking for the bar coded label on the driver's door frame or door opening. Locate the "MDH" entry on the label. The 1st two numbers are the month and the 2nd two numbers are the day. The "DATE OF MFR" entry shows month and year the vehicle was built. To transfer the Powertrain Warranty, you must have an authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer process a "Transfer of Coverage Application" for you. The cost for this service is $150. You pay this fee directly to the dealer. You must apply for a coverage transfer within 30 days from the date you buy the vehicle. Transfer of coverage under the Cummins Diesel Engine Warranty is included in the transfer of coverage under the Powertrain Warranty. G. No Coverage to Second Purchaser if Transfer Fee is Not Paid If you do not transfer the remainder of the 7 year/ 70,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty coverage and pay the transfer fee, or if you are the third (or subsequent) owner of the vehicle, the Powertrain Limited Warranty described in this Section 2.2 does not apply to you. H. Some Commercial Vehicles Are Excluded Vehicles used as a police vehicle, taxi, limousine, postal delivery vehicle, ambulance or rental vehicle are not covered by the 7 Year/70,000 Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. This is the same warranty applicable to all Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep vehicles for '04, correct? Where did you get it from again? We have a serpentine belt tensioner that's going bad, the stealership says it's not covered.... edit: but since it's specifically mentioned as covered, (albeit $100 deductible) it's covered. corning_d3 02-01-2007, 06:01 PM I'm not sure. I ran it as a 2004 Ram Pickup. EDIT: I just ran it as a 2004 Wrangler and it's the same. I thought you had a pickup...I have a daimlerchrysler account from work. I can look up tons of stuff on there. Wiring, service/repair, TSB's, etc... fredjacksonsan 02-02-2007, 09:26 AM OK, fair enough. I used to have a pickup, had to sell it :frown: to get something more friendly for hauling people rather that stuff. Since the warranty includes the belt tensioner specifically, and the dealer is saying it's not included, I'd like to be able to show it to them. I don't know if it's a "secret" how to access that warranty info or not, but if not please let me know what to tell them so they can see it for themselves. (I don't think if I print it from here that they'd be believers) Thanks again, been a great help. corning_d3 02-02-2007, 08:46 PM I think you can go to jeep.com, click on warranty and enter your year and model. As a matter of fact, here's a link... http://www.jeep.com/crossbrand/warranty/index.html It's a PDF file, so make sure you have Adobe Reader. fredjacksonsan 02-03-2007, 08:58 AM Sweet; thanks Corning. I know I'd seen it before, just couldn't find it. Now to print it out and go talk to the stealership. *walks away whistling* MT-2500 02-03-2007, 10:31 AM OK, fair enough. But the 100$ deductible may eat up he cost of a tensioner. God Luck corning_d3 02-03-2007, 01:03 PM I hate dealing with dealerships...and I work in one! Well, I just fix 'em.. fredjacksonsan 02-03-2007, 09:10 PM The customer service 800 no. in your owners manual may be of help on it. But the 100$ deductible may eat up he cost of a tensioner. God Luck True enough; the part is $32.50 at the local store, and $65 at the stealership (no reflection on you, Corning!). The reason I'll be taking it in, is that we had it in at about 7K and 18K for the same noise, and they said they'd replace it if the noise got worse. So hopefully we can strongarm them into doing it for free. If not, I'd rather spend a couple hours under the hood and buy the part rather than pay the deductible. corning_d3 02-04-2007, 09:59 PM HAHA!!
