96 Chevy Cavalier NO HEAT HELP! gr-elvis 01-30-2007, 06:45 AM
I have a 1996 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 auto. Ju st had head redone new gaskets, new water pump, new thermostat, flush, new coolant and there is no heat inside the car. The low coolant light is on but coolant is full and the temp guage goes all the way to the red and back to ice cold in a matter of seconds while idling. The coolant does not seem to be moving in the resevoir while running with the cap off. Please HELP! :banghead: gr-elvis Cold_Silence 02-02-2007, 02:07 AM Did you ensure the air was bled out of the cooling system? Running it with the cap off doesent always bleed it out. There are two bleeder screws, i usually just need the one on that black rail that runs in front of the header. Leave it running and have the screw open until just coolant comes out, if no coolant comes out for awhile its a good sign there was lots of air in the system. Make sure those 2 hoses coming from the rear of the engine to the firewall are not switched up. Also while its running squeeze the thick coolant hoses, [upper/lower/and thermy] hoses and it might gurgle and get it moving, worked for me, check if the hoses are getting hot at all after running it for a few mins.. muff34 02-03-2007, 01:12 AM the coolant level sensor has likely gone bad or is stuck ,give resevoir a tap and see if light goes out Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
