Cherokee starts but then dies...crakrtoof 01-29-2007, 05:11 PM I have a 93 cherokee sport with 190,000 miles on it. The other day was really cold and I was driving fine all day, until the car suddenly completey died on me. I was able to start it up the next day and let it run for a little while (it was less cold, too). Then today I got it started and running and two blocks later it died again. Is it the alternator? 1996Chreokee 01-29-2007, 05:57 PM when it died was there anything (turning over or just not starting, very dim or no dash lights or head lights) If you think its a battery or a charging system problem run and don't walk to your local Advanced Auto, Pep Boys, or AutoZone and they will check those systems for you for free. They will install a new battery if you buy it from them... Please post back with what the problem was fredjacksonsan 01-30-2007, 04:59 AM Have you ever replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor? A bad one could cause the problems you're experiencing.
