Electric Window problem 98 Deville

Here's a very strange problem. The rear door on the passenger side window rolled down but would not roll up. I tore the door down and the electric motor only worked one way, rolling down. I got a new motor at Autozone, same problem. I changed the switch out, same problem again. Using the control from the driver's door, same problem. So what I have is an electrical problem that is not the motor or the switch, and the motor only works to roll down, not up. Can anyone advise on this? Is there a relay somewhere or bad wiring, there isn't much left to check, this cannot be a very complicated problem, or can it? Thanks in advance.

Check the connection for the wires between the switch and the motor. I think you are on the right track that it may be a bad wire. There are two circuits, one for up and the other for down.

Here's the answer: the master switch at the driver's door (on that circuit to the right rear door) was bad and prevented the switch at the rear passenger's door to work in both directions, raise and lower the window. Luckily the switch can be partially disassembled and blown with air or just moved around enough so that the contacts reconnect to reveal the problem. I about died to learn it was that simple, I'm not that good at reading electrical schematics, but I'm getting better after this wild goose chase. So here's the solution for anyone having window problems with electrical switches, all door switched are wired THROUGH the master switch on the driver's door and both switches must be in good working order. Go figure! As a good friend says "it's not intuitively obvious". Lesson learned.

DHSpringWhat I did to check the motor: I just got power station(12v) and connected straight to the motor changing the polarity - if it works both directions - motor is good. Also sometimes it helps to make circuit to work right.

Welcome to AF.
This is great advice, but probably no longer required. If you notice the date on the thread, the question was asked 19 months ago.
