I might as well ask another question while I'm here. :grinyes:

I need to get at the damper that controls air flow to the defroster and dash vents in my 99 Taurus. It looks like I'll need to remove the passenger side air bag to be able to work on it. Is that a difficult job?

Don't know about removing the airbag itself, but depending on what you're looking for, you may have to remove the entire instrument panel, which would include the intact airbag system,, you MUST disconnect the battery anyhow, the airbag power supply will drain off in a matter of minutes, rendering it safe to work around, get yourself a service manual or disc if you're digging way in, get one regardless, there's all kinds of things you don't want to accidently break, probably some hidden fasteners you'd never know where to find... possibly someone on here has tips to make it easier,,

The passenger airbag removal is fairly simple.
1) disconnect the battery
2) wait 10 minutes
3) open the glove box and remove the 4- 10 mm bolts holding the airbag to the frame of the dash
4) disconnect the gray wire connector and remove the airbag (the cover is snapped into the dash in about 8 places. You can reuse the snaps if they pop ot of place
