4x4 light on?joe8918 01-28-2007, 01:27 PM I have a question about my '96 Cherokee with 4x4 (automatic, 4.0L I6). When I elect to put the Jeep into 4 High (or low for that matter) is there a light that is supposed to come on in the dash? I was reading the disclaimer about the transmission/4WD capabilities and it mentioned something about a light. Does anyone have a light on or not? Sorry about a simple question but I only know my vehicle:confused: ...Thanks citizen@large 01-29-2007, 01:40 AM I have an '89, '92, & a '98, and they all have those lights. Prolly just a fuse, but it could also be the bulbs. Maybe something connected to the transfer case selector handle? Hmm... 'dunno. The lights should be to the left of the steering wheel, above the headlights pull-switch. AlohaBra 01-30-2007, 10:01 AM There is a bulb in the instrument pack and a switch on the transfer case for the light. Actually, it illuminates some letters that says "part-time". joe8918 01-30-2007, 12:06 PM yeah, it's one of those things that I may look at if I have a lot of time and nothing to do...whenever that would be:lol: I am rarely in 4wd but I do know that all are engaged when I put it in 4wd. Just wanted to know...thanks. Solomon7 04-10-2007, 04:30 PM I'm in the same boat. ('96 4.0 HO I6) My mechanic friend said they have a vacuum hose or something that turns the light on, but I think that might be on the older ones. there is a connection about 9 o'clock looking forward on the TC that may need to be cheecked. That's all I got so far , If anyone can tellme how to get to the light in the dash I think we could all rest a little better! jerkstore 04-10-2007, 10:46 PM ive got an 88 and sometimes after i take it out of 4wd the part-time light stay on for a couple days before it turns off vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
