Last night i took on a 94' Cougar 4.6L V8 automatic (RWD) in my 90' Mazda 626 2.2L 4-cyl. standard shift (FWD) The Cougar had a computer mod that improved the RPM curve (tires squaked in 2nd gear) I am running all stock except for my exhaust (see mod below) Well, we both had a hell of a start, squealing tires all around. First through third i wound out the gears, fourth gear came and im running at about 3,000 RPM and all of the sudden my turbo kicks in. I had a jump on him like you wouldnt belive, from there on i only gained he never had a chance to catch up, i think both of us were stunned, i didnt expect to win that one. My one friend and the kid i raced thought it may be close but none of us expected me to come out that far ahead. It was a great experience, the adrenaline rush was unreal. Another one of my friends has a 95 or 96 Firebird V6 standard shift and he has been wanting to race me cuz i always would tell him whats the point cuz i would win, i may just have to take on the challenge after tonights victory.

Well i am proud to say i won my second race against this car. This time i did a whole lot different. The whole night the subject of racing didnt come up but when the same kid that i raced once before told everybody that he blew me away i couldnt stand there and let him rip apart my car. We raced about a 1/4 mile stretch starting from a stop light. This time i knew i had to make sure i blew his dors off so to gain a little extra lead i kept my car revving at a nice speed so that i would take off right at teh start and not let my new Konigs with Yokohama tires loose. Right off the start i was a good quater lengths ahead and i knew i had him after i maxxed out 1st. Second gear the turbo kicked in and it was a done deal. by the time we reached out finish point i had a good 4 car lengths ahead of him. We pulled back into the parking lot where a few friends stood by to watch. I just had to stand there and smirk as he took a verbal beating from everyone. It was great to shut him up and prove to all his friends (who also owned Cougars and Thunderbirds) that my rice burner (which is not even half the car his is) completely destroyed his 4.6 V8. It was the perfect ending to the night

Im sorry But for you 411.... Your turbo does not kick in at 4th gear... Tturbo's are always on, you just get full boost at a RPM point depending on your exhaust size... so no your turbo did not kick in only in 4th gear. and im sorry but if you shifted into 4th gear while racing and your RPM's were only at 3000 YOU SUCK AT DRIVING! :p

And SUS626 Mid 15s... not bad, if your not talking out your ass, like 626Toofast.. So prove it, Post your time slips!

Or you two can just Get the FuCk out Newbies! :flipa:

Ahem!

Lets keep it friendly guys.

And there was an Factory Mazda 626 Turbo sold in Aussie, and in stock form they are certianly not fast cars, however like all Turbo cars with the right work done they do have some potential.
Than and the fact that there are plenty of Aussie V8s that are not that fast either.

there were actually 2 626 turbos sold in australia. the 2L which had 87kw from factory, and the 2.2L which had around 106kw. my car as i said is the 2L its making 75kw@wheels on 6psi which is a fair whack over the standard power, its in the middle of getting a repaint atm so once painted(around 4weeks) ill get the pics up then. im not really into bodykits etc i like to have the car looking as stock as possible.

Hey I just bought a 1990 maxda 626 touring(hatchback) 2.2 ltr lx but it's not the turbo charged. I really need to know where I can get a turbo charger that I can install and also all other 626 upgrade parts. I love the car, and it's already quick stock but I am anxious to see what it can do after I throw a little money at it and blow up some civics
thanks for any help you can give me at this point!

Hi Guys, I'm from Australia and also have a Mazda 626 2.2L TurboCharged 4WS Touring Hatch Limited Edition Model. Considering the price I paid and the countless features I must admit it is one of the best cars I have ever owned.

:smokin:

The car is in excellent condition and very well built. A very reliable car (if its well looked after) and very quick of the mark. I have no problem leaving other cars behind and the engine is very smooth with good compression.

It has almost every feature imaginable (except for keyless entry, immoblizer and car alarm, which I added later from a 96' Mazda 626, which topped it off for me). It is excellent to drive and I like it so much that I decided to purchase brand new original Mazda Workshop Manuals.

These Mazda Workshop Manuals cover every aspect of the car and provide excellent information with complete electricals.

This car was also regarded as one of the most safest S/H cars available in an accident by VACC. I would certainly recommend this car to anyone who wants Power, Features and Luxury without the high price tag of new cars.

Regards to all..
