why does the gas gauge do thatcodencerence 01-20-2007, 03:43 PM i have a 91 caprice and so does a friend of mine...on both of our cars when u mkae a left turn the gas gauge drops and if your low enough on gas u can make the car turn off....why does it do that and is their a way to fix it GreyGoose006 01-20-2007, 07:07 PM well when you turn, centripetal force pulls the gas to the outside of the tank. if you are low enough, then gas wont get to the pump and the engine will cut off. good news tho. its easy to fix. put gas in the tank... see, pretty easy. MT-2500 01-20-2007, 07:41 PM i have a 91 caprice and so does a friend of mine...on both of our cars when u mkae a left turn the gas gauge drops and if your low enough on gas u can make the car turn off....why does it do that and is their a way to fix it The best fix is to keep over a 1/4 tank of fuel in it. People that do have a lot less fuel pump problems. PeteA216 01-20-2007, 07:41 PM My caprice does the same thing... so does my truck... the way to keep the car from dying is to follow these simple instructions: 1: Monitor Gas Guage - If Fuel level should drop below 1/4 to 1/8 of a tank remaining, proceed to step 2. 2: Find and go to the nearest gas station. 3: Obtain fuel from an available pump. 4: Pump until tank is full, or you reach a desired level. 5: Pay for fuel You have now prevented your vehicle from stalling out during a turn. ilgoldstein 02-09-2007, 12:35 PM GM gas guages all do this. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
