Our 97 Voyager (3.3 v-6, high miles)has been running fine until today, while driving, it stalled at a stop light. It starts and runs in park or neutral, but as soon as you put it in gear it stalls, any ideas on what to check? thanks Russ

Do a search (upper right). You'll find plenty of threads on the subject.

Seems a gummed up throttle body, the egr system, and cam or crank sensors are common fixes. Welcome to the forum.

This could also be the transmission Torque Converter Clutch is stuck on all the time. Check out the other above items first.

just for the heck of it, after sitting all night, I tried to start it and put it in gear and drove all over! Now what?:screwy:
One thing I've noticed in other threads is voltage problems, with my van I can only keep a battery about 3 years or I run into all sorts of electrical problems!
Tomorrow I will check codes to see whats up!

My 2000 was doing the same thing. The computer also spit out the error code, P1294. This code indicates that the idle can not reach the target idle speed. I replaced the ISC (Idle Speed Control) valve. That solved the problem. Not cheap though at $100.

Took it to 2 shops and no one can find anything wrong, one had a code for oil temp and now it runs fine!:banghead:

Drove fine for a few days now it does the same thing, after driving high speed for at least 30 minutes I slow down to stop and it bucks after coming to a complete stop to go forward. Will replace torque converter solenoid tonight.:banghead:still no codes come up on the computer!

Changed the torque converter solenoid its better but once in awhile it will stall at a stop, but never for my local repair shop!

Well the trans finally went out, burned up and screamed while my daughter drove it! Found a rebuilt one for under $1000. any special hints I need to know about dropping this one out and replacing it? Tried to find a web site with step by step procedure but no luck! I've pulled front wheel drives tranys in the past but any hepl here would be great, thanks Russ

OK, since you're putting a rebuilt one:

1. Flush the transmission cooler lines. Dirt & metal shavings from the failed
trans can lodge there, so flush it.

2. Use a new or rebuilt torque converter. They also can trap crud, and the
clutch lining inside them wears out.

3. Update/replace the TCM. They keep updating this, so it should be done.

4. Use ATF=4 fluid!!! Use the right filter, go to the Dealer if you have to.

5. Reteaching the transmission: This could be a problem since 95+ models
"may" need a scanner tool to do this.

6. Replace the flywheel to torque converter bolts. This is from Sonnax.

Good luck!
