Do struts have fluid in them? Or are they gas filled? And yes, I know...

...this is a silly question but I want to make sure that puddle under the wheel where I just replaced the strut mount is not brake fluid.

Thanks for reading,
Tom

They are filled with... drum roll please...fluid and nitrogen (gas).
The gas adds pressure to the system to help keep the fluid from cavitating as easily. If the fluid is leaking out the strut is toast.

I was soooo afraid you were going to say that. After I just spent a day replacing the mount and then reinstalling the old strut.

Ahhhh....back to the tool box.

Thanks for the info.

I'll let you know how it goes...again.

Tom
