Her heater is cold... budscuz 01-18-2007, 01:11 PM
This van is new to us. A '96. When it's idling the heater blows cold. You've got to run the engine at higher than idle to get heat. Driving normally produces, but never at an idle. Do your Astros operate like this also, or does hers have a problem? old_master 01-18-2007, 05:29 PM A lack of heat at idle occurs when the cooling system is low on coolant. When engine RPM increases, so does coolant flow through the heater core. The heater core is at the highest point in the cooling system. When the coolant level is low, the heater core is the first component in the cooling system to be starved of coolant, (a built in way to let you know there's a problem somewhere). Check the radiator and coolant reservoir for proper level and refill with Dexcool coolant ONLY. budscuz 01-18-2007, 09:20 PM Boy, do I feel dumb. I knew it was low.
