Remote Start / Factory Alarm Starter Kill Trevor86TA 01-14-2007, 01:51 AM
I am having a bit of trouble with the Company truck. Its an '05 F150. The last few days I have had extremely difficulty getting it going. It seems like the factory alarm has a starter kill that won't let it start. The first 2 times this happend I played around with the lock, unlock and panic buttons until finally it worked. This time I can't get the starter to engage. We've had an extreme cold spell this week (-40s) but the truck starts great once this problem goes away. Any idea what's wrong? ponchonutty 01-15-2007, 08:34 AM Wait, what's going on??? Is it problems with the remote start or is there one installed??? Or, are you having problems starting it with the key??? Trevor86TA 01-15-2007, 11:49 AM Both. It won't start with the remote or the key. All of my attempts now are with the key though. ponchonutty 01-15-2007, 09:24 PM Unhook or even remove the bypass. What bypass did you use and what wires are hooked up to what? Trevor86TA 01-15-2007, 09:26 PM I got it to start today by turning the key while holding down the bypass. I am not sure what the problem is. The remote start was an option when the truck was new. ponchonutty 01-15-2007, 09:29 PM My bet it's something with the bypass. I still would like to know what the bypass is brand??? Model???? Trevor86TA 01-15-2007, 10:11 PM The manual says: "Ford Motor Company - Vehicle Security and Remote Start Systems" "Remote Start System with Deluxe Vehicle Security" "Featuring PowerCode Technology" It doesn't say any model # though. ponchonutty 01-15-2007, 10:36 PM OK, it's that cheap ass Code Alarm piece that's rebadged as a Ford product. Call you dealer and have them remove it. Trevor86TA 01-15-2007, 11:07 PM OK, it's that cheap ass Code Alarm piece that's rebadged as a Ford product. Call you dealer and have them remove it. Its my bosses truck and he lives 2000 miles away... ponchonutty 01-16-2007, 06:45 AM So, there's more than one Ford dealer. Trevor86TA 01-16-2007, 09:24 AM I was just referring to the fact that that seemed like a non-warranty fix. I assumed a ford dealer would want to replace it and not just remove it. ponchonutty 01-16-2007, 12:48 PM No, what you have in there is the Ford add on piece that is sold to Ford by Code Alarm and sold/installed by Ford dealerships. They should be able to help you out. Now, it also could be a faulty PATS decoder too but they should be able to figure that out. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
