2000 blazer rear brakes stuckvettepin 01-10-2007, 08:55 PM i have a 2000 2wd blazer 4 door and the rear brakes are stayin on when driving , i had to change the pads and the the car still does it im lost . they are rear disc and front abs only , and the abs light is not on . help old_master 01-10-2007, 09:33 PM Caliper pistons could be binding. Caliper hardware could be binding. Rear flex hose could be restricted. Parking brake partially applied. Those are the most common reasons rear disc brakes will not release on GM "S" and "T" series. vettepin 01-10-2007, 09:58 PM i lubed all pins and pads. and both rear brakes get real hot not just one side, but when i touch the front brakes they are cool. i jacked it up and the rear wheels are for sure sticking . maybe its a abs pump stuck. laxman21 01-10-2007, 11:47 PM Are the rear slide pins, where the caliper bolts to the anchor bracket moving? How are the lines? muddog321 01-11-2007, 05:37 AM You have to take the pins out of the brakets (have the rubber cap on them) to lube inside - those are the ones that freeze up. I never reuse the 98 up rear calipers always get rebuilts cause they are cheap single piston with a special plastic piston that distorts and often cocks or binds in the bore after being pushed back for new brakes. Fronts are dual and metal so OK. This is why its cheaper and easiler to buy "loaded" calipers with the braket, pins, caliper, and pads all ready to bolt in and best way to go on newer Blazer rears. hunter01 01-11-2007, 09:45 AM Is it your parking brake sticking? Did you try to spin the rotor without the caliper installed? vettepin 01-11-2007, 03:44 PM well the pins are good and free , and the weird thing is that both are locking up at the same time . its still drives but there is a light pull from the rears. i think it might be a rubber line that comes off the frame to the 2 way spliter on the diff.ill change the line and go to calipers next. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
