'95 Century Speedometer

The speedometer & odometer have stopped functioning except occassionally the speedometer needle will register the speed. After reading similar problems on this site I believe it is probably the VS Sensor or its connections.
My question is: where is the VS Sensor located and is it tricky to remove ? Is it possible that only the connections or wires are corroded if it's located in an abusive environment. Thanks in advance for your advice.

The VSS is a possibility. On a 4T60E autotransaxle it is located on the right side (passenger) of the transaxle housing extension where the axle shaft connects. You will see the wiring harness and it is in an abusive environment.
