Places to look are front and rear intake gaskets. Heater core and heater hoses wherethey go into engine. Water pump and water pump weap hole and rad hoses and also rad. Look on top side of engine then craw underside and look up. Also check freeze plugs. On hard to find leaks run a pressure test cold and warm and hot. Also on real hard to find leaks they make a dye you can put in coolant and put a special light on it to find leak. And make sure no coolant is in the engine oil. Good Luck and let us know how it goes. MT squeaky3 01-09-2007, 08:48 PM ok well i have checked around the engine the whole front part of it looks wet from about the thermostat so tat is y we replaced tat but tat obviousely wasnt it i put it up onto a frame contact hoist today i took off tat plastic cover and everything is wet with antifreeze and it smells really bad like it i cant tell where exactly it is comin from if ne one has had this same thing happen to them let me kno so i kno wat to do next djd99 01-09-2007, 10:08 PM Try running a coolant pressure test to find the leak, if you don't have a pressure tester you can get one on loan from autozone. It connect's to the top of the radiator and you apply pressure to the system and it should be apparent where your leak is. muddog321 01-10-2007, 04:55 AM Lower intake where it meets the block is very common and near the heads so fill it up, run it and carefully look with a good light and you will probably see the leak. Hope its your waterpump, but.... MT-2500 01-10-2007, 09:38 AM ok well i have checked around the engine the whole front part of it looks wet from about the thermostat so tat is y we replaced tat but tat obviousely wasnt it i put it up onto a frame contact hoist today i took off tat plastic cover and everything is wet with antifreeze and it smells really bad like it i cant tell where exactly it is comin from if ne one has had this same thing happen to them let me kno so i kno wat to do next Check rad hose and clamp ant thermo stat housing again. Also watch rad a pin hole will sometime blow coolant back on engine. As said a pressure tester would be next step. Wash off engine with water and let it dry and then put pressure on rad. Always check cold and warm and hot. If it does not show up with pressure on it. Then go for the coolant dye test. Good luck MT Chris Stewart 01-10-2007, 10:25 AM After driving mine until it was fully warmed up, I put a big enough piece of cardboard to catch anything off the motor under the car to catch the drips and help determine the location of the leaks. NOVA71 01-16-2007, 03:29 AM Check the intake gaskets along the top where they meet the cylinder heads. Probably be hard to see with all the crap in the way, but use a bright flash light and try to get a good look. The intake manifold gaskets are known to go. Mine was leaking at the front and the antifreeze was running along where the intake and head meet, and running to the back of the motor and dripping down along the transmission. I noticed this while driving home from work one night and could smell antifreeze and noticed some puffs of white smoke coming out from under the truck where the antifreeze was dripping on the exhaust. squeaky3 01-16-2007, 05:05 PM thanks for everyones help so far so far we still havent gotten it fixed yet it is still leakin from the front down somewhere it has slowed down some since the thermostat was put in but it still leaks we r goin to get some stop leak stuff tontie to try to stop it temporarly becuz r other car just went into the shop becuz it suddenly died on me the other day out in the country so tat is goin to cost us to fix it so for now we r hopin tat the stop leak will slow it enough where we wont have to put more coolant into it like everyday so far we have gone through over 2.5 jugs of coolant and some water i hope it gets fixed soon becuz not havein heat sometimes in the harsh cold of illinois really sucks duke350 01-16-2007, 07:39 PM If you can avoid it, stay away from stop leak. It can plug more then the hole you want it to. paxfam1 01-17-2007, 01:40 AM Hello, not sure if you checked your water pump out, mine just went. It was leaking fluid from the weap whole, which is a sign of a dead water pump. 36$ at my local parts store and about 2 hours labor. Just thought I would mention it because its an easy and cheap fix.......... good luck vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
