remove AC from 97 s-10 reubenator 01-04-2007, 10:02 PM
I have a 97 s-10 with a 4.3L that has AC. Compressor is bad and all freon has escaped. Since I don't us AC and don't plan on ever selling this truck, is there a kit for removing the AC that would provide me with a idler pully to replace the compressor or would I be able to just use the belt made for a model with a 4.3L without AC? I have to remove Intake to replace gasket so I thought while I had this apart I would also tackle this issue. frehol 01-05-2007, 01:06 AM Is it that bad that you can't leave it in place and just disconnect the wires for the AC clutch? If you pull the electric connector then the clutch will not engage any more... //F DelCoch 01-05-2007, 02:50 AM To bypass the compressor you need the idler pulley and fan belt for a non-air conditioned Blazer. When air is not installed it has an extra idler puller. Look under the hood on the cross piece next to the radiator, it should have a diagram for both. http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/7104/beltrouting003jo7.jpg reubenator 01-05-2007, 09:44 AM I have friends who had clutches freeze up at the utmost inopportune times and when one belt is involved I really don't want to get stuck for something I'm not using.
