1990 Delta 88 problem

some one help me, ok, so now the engine is having some troble, it'll lag a little right on acceleration, like....a hesitation, and sometimes it'll just bog down, and then die, other times it'll go like that, then jump because i have to punch it.

and the transmission, it does this thing at higher speeds, like around 40-50 mph, if u let off the gas, like your coasting, it'll feel like its going back and forth from overdrive and 3rd gear, just like, down shift, then upshift, then downshift, then upshift, but like, in a patter, downshift for a short time, upshift for normal, then repeat.

AND NOW, the drivers side window wont roll up or down, stuck cracked open, the switch wont click when u press the up button, clicks on the down button, but still no movement at all, and the lights wont dim, like theres no current draw when u press any buttons, so i think the switch is messed up, anyone know which wires i can splice into, like probe into to force the motor to push the window up, incase it rains.

I would suggest you post each problem individually and approach them individually.
As for the engine, you seem to have a timing chain loose or fuel flow problem.
You may have to open the door panel to see where the problem is. Often the motors get old, wet, and the brushes in the motor quit connecting to the armature. I have whacked my motor and got it running but eventually replaced it with a right side motor from a junk yard. The right side is used less and had more brushes left.

You could get a wiring diagram to see color for the source to the switch but the switch controls up and down and its likely the source has failed somewhere inside the door.

Good Luck

On you hesitaions I would suggest changing your fuel filter if you havnt in the past 30-40K miles.
Might also want to check you fuel pressure with a gauge to see if your with in spec. Your fuel pressure should be around 31-43 PSI.

On the trany when was your last fluid and filter change?
New fluid and a filter can do wonders, just stay away from flushing the trans.

First I would check your fuses for the window. Then check the switches as they can get dirty and fail to work. You can also check for power at the switches to see if the motors are even getting power.

Hope that helps.

Motor: First, check for codes (autozone can pull them for free) and post back with the exact numbers as this will be the best way to start troubleshooting.

Timing chain could need replaced as they only last 75-125k miles. Fuel filters should be changed every 12-15k miles. Check for vacuum leaks and if any of your rubber vacuum hoses are cracked or have black stuff come off onto your fingers, replace them.

Transmission: As already said, replace the fluid and filter. This should be done every 40k miles or so. If the fluid or filter change doesn't do anything, then we'll troubleshoot some more.

Window motor: Very Very Very common. The motors die in these things all the time. However, the swithes can also become useless if they are dirty or abused. Remove the switch assembly and try cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser and then use a tiny bit of di-electric grease to keep moisture and debris out. Consider replacing the switch with a unit from the junkyard as you mentioined that it didn't click right. If the switch doesn't solve the problem, consider buying and installng a new window motor.

I dont know about the Zones readers. :headshake
They arent the best in the world,
but maybe it can give you an idea whats going on.

If you can get it scanned from another place too,
other parts stores do this also for free, not all but most.

Some are, true. But it really really depends from store to store. In my area, there is one good Autozone, one decent O'Reilys, 2 crappy O'reilys, 1 crappy Autozone, and a mediocre Napa.

Different employees and management make a difference as I've found.
