1996 Jeep CHerokee oil pan1996Chreokee 01-03-2007, 11:15 PM I have a 1996 Jeep cherokee sport with the 4.0 liter in it... Its all stock... The oil pan is very rust and seeps oil... It has been wired wheeled once and sealed over but there are some new places where its begining to leak.. I live in New York where they use salt on the roads in the winter and the jeep is only used during the winter months. Can the oil pan be removed and replaced fairly easly without lifting the engine , messing with the tranny or 4 wheel drive components. the truck has 142k on it and I don t want to open a can of worms by distrubing everything else Thanks for any help Auto matic tranny:banghead: Stick89 01-04-2007, 04:13 AM I have "heard"that IF you raise the front by the front axle.....take the nuts off the TOP of the front shocks.....then support the vehicle by putting jackstands under the subframe it will give you bout 2-3 more inches and that the pan should slide down and towards the back of the vehicle with out too much of a hassle..... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
