I just recently bought a 2000 Venture and have had NUMEROUS problems since day one. Its most recent problem is that it will idle really high as soon as i take it out of park. I dont even need to hit the gas and it will go about 25 mph. In the past month and a half, I have replaced the TPS sensor, crank control sensor, and the fuel pump. I have only had the van for 2 months... Maybe a bad TPS sensor? But the check engine light has not came back on. That is the original reason the TPS was replaced. ANy input is greatly appreciated.:banghead:

well the check engine light finally came on, so i took it to advance to get the code, and the TPS came up. It was just replaced a month ago so the shop put on a new one for free. Has anyone heard of electrical issues causing all this stuff to go out or do you think it is just coincidence?

Well it has now been a week since my check engine light has come on! I think that is a record....It is not idling high anymore but it is kind of acting up still. It just seems like it cranks forever before it starts. Sometimes up to about 30 seconds before it turns over. Hubby says not to worry about it but i know its not normal! Sometimes it doesnt do it at all.... Just had the crank sensor and fuel pump replaced (not cheap!!!) Can the intake sucking air cause that as well? If so, i guess the hubby has a little project coming up when his foot heals......Thanks all!!

Well the last post was a few hours too soon.........broke down AGAIN!!!! This is like the 7th time in 2 months. Cranks but wont start....Same thing it has been doing for the last two months. I hate this car!:banghead: Going to suggest upper intake gasket to shop when they call and see what happens. Ready to call the repo man myself and tell him to just come get it.

I have FINALLY a logical answer for all of these issues i have had with this van. The main wiring is fried. The shop traced it up and is able to repair it. They dont sell new wiring harnesses where it is fried. Which explains why all of these electrical parts were going out on the van. Well we will never know if these parts that were replaced were bad, but I am just happy to have a reasonable explanation. I am told this is a common issue with Ventures so anyone who experiences some of these issues check the main wiring!! IT may save you ALOT of headaches & $$!

WOuld be interesting to locate the exact area where this damage occured...and the cause, if one can be alleged..things do not just happen...may be a photo by the way...this is great info for all and thank you for your input.
DO not forget to update on final results...

The wiring damage was right on the top side of the gas tank. The reason for it cant be determined. I was told several different factors can make it burn up-moisture, short, dirt, another wiring touching and so on. Couldnt get any pics though. He replaced the wiring from rear of van all the up to under drivers seat to front of the van. Hopefully this solves this vans issues for a while. If not, I will be sure to post!

The saga continues......didnt have it one day before he SES came back on.....Took to Autozone nd had them hook it up again. Really starting to get to know these guys!! Now its a P0453 code. The fuel tank pressure sensor. I am just hoping that maybe something got knocked loose when the wiring was replaced. I guess I will find out. Taking back to the shop tomorrow before it doesnt start and i have yet another tow bill. Cant wait to trade in this piece of @&%$!!

P0453 Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor High Input
OK this code can be thrown by improperly locked purge solenoid valve....annnoying but not operation threatening...

It just worries me because of all the electrical issues I have had. The first thing that pops into my head is "Ok Another electrical part fried...." I think I will have shop check it out just in case. Maybe they will take care of it easy enough. If its going to cost more then a few $$, forget it and I will take my chances. Maybe i better hurry up and get AAA! If the sensor is fried or shorted out, will that effect runability or stop it from starting?
