92 Electrical ShortRadeonX 01-02-2007, 12:51 PM Hey, I am now working on getting everything electrical running in the bravada. Unfortumatley there is a short with the horn fuse. i beleive the horn fuse effects the horn and the interior lighting. also my radio isn't working either but the radio fuse is still good. now i'm not really excited about pulling out the fuse box and chasing chords everywhere to find the problem so i was wondering if thier were any common known problems with these shorts about how time consuming and complicated it would be to solve and if i should just bring it to a shop and let them do the work. Chris Stewart 01-02-2007, 11:56 PM The horn/DM fuse carries the Convenience Center,Horns,Headlights,Fog lights,Interior lights: Dome/Courtesy/Instrument Panel/Radio Clock/Cigar Lighter/Vanity Mirrors,Underhood Light,Endgate Window Release & Power Mirrors. Check the Power outlets and cigar lighters for pennies and gum wrappers. RadeonX 01-03-2007, 12:50 PM allright i will check the lighters for any unwanted objects but i am pretty sure they are all good. i have an adapter pulgged into one at the moment and that works fine. as to whats not working, none of the interiors lights work, the only thing lit up on the guages is the speedometer the radio didn't work when i bought the car and still doesn't, i have a deck in it's place now, fog lights i don't have because the person before me decided to remove them and the bottom half of the bumper, don't ask me why he did this, i like how it looks though lol. the engine bay light does work but will flicker a lot and is very touchy. thats about all i can think of that isn't working at the moment. RadeonX 01-04-2007, 12:32 PM most the lighters checked out. the two base ones work but the top lighter next to the radio isn't recieving any power Chris Stewart 01-04-2007, 07:26 PM Maybe the wire fell off and is grounding the circuit. ericn1300 01-05-2007, 12:15 AM is it a stock or after market radio. a lot of installers use the cigar lighter wire for power. LOL, Chris, the first thing i thought of was the convinence power ports too. they are in really bad position. mine shorted out shortly after i replaced the heater core. thats where those missing screws went. Chris Stewart 01-05-2007, 10:04 AM    RadeonX 01-05-2007, 12:33 PM it's an aftermarket deck, i didn't have anyone install it because i was going to myself. thinking about pulling the fuse box today and might just start chasing wires, see where that goes i guess. ericn1300 01-05-2007, 07:22 PM it's an aftermarket deck, i didn't have anyone install it because i was going to myself. thinking about pulling the fuse box today and might just start chasing wires, see where that goes i guess. start with the easy stuff first. try disconnecting the horn and pulling the lamps from the interior lights first to locate the source of your short. if that doesn't isolate it pull the radio and disconnect the cigar lighter before pulling the fuse box. RadeonX 01-14-2007, 12:23 PM allright, i replaced the cig lighter and that solved the fuse problem, so the horn, interior lights, and the radio work but i still have no lights on the guages or for the ac controll any ideas what could be causing this? Chris Stewart 01-14-2007, 09:35 PM Take the foglamp switch off to access the screws that hold the light switch panel on and see if your dash light dimmer has all the wires going to it...check the headlight switch for missing/disconnected wires too. ericn1300 01-15-2007, 08:27 PM Take the foglamp switch off to access the screws that hold the light switch panel on and see if your dash light dimmer has all the wires going to it...check the headlight switch for missing/disconnected wires too. before you do that, just try running the dimmer thumbwheel up and down to see if it's just a dirty switch. do you have the digital display? RadeonX 01-16-2007, 03:32 PM no digital display, have analog. the dimmer works for the defog and wipers but nothing else. there is some light comming from the guages but very little i would assume it's just a bad connection to the switch. i will be checking on this tomorrow. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
