map senso issueswjaso 12-30-2006, 12:27 PM 1989 Wagoneer Ltd,4.0 L Can a map sensor cause intermittent start issues, recently have had a crank but no start condition on occasion and it seems that if I disconnect the map sensor and then reconnect it,it will run and have no problems for days and then same thing, any insight would be appreciated. Thanks Stick89 01-03-2007, 05:17 AM There should be a short piece of hose going to the MAP....replace the hose first....mine was cracked and I replaced just the hose....As a matter of fact check ALL your vacumn hoses.....Check on the passenger side behind the fron bumper....there should be a vacumn cannister.....Vacumn leaks can cause a few problems....but are fairly easy and cheap to fix..... citizen@large 01-03-2007, 10:14 PM I also had the same exact thing happen to my '89 4.0L... It took a few days to diagnose, but once I found that it was the wiring there at the MAP, I just cleaned the contacts as best I could w/a little sand paper, then applied some dielectric grease and squished it back together. Not another problem since... 4 mos ago... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
