What is the difference between a 3.73 and a 4.10 gear ratio ? CFD323 09-21-2002, 10:52 PM
Picking up my new 2002 Silverado this week. I wanted one with the stock 3.73 gear ratio but this particular truck that I found had a 4.10 gear ratio. What is the difference ? Will I get worse gas mileage with the 4.10 ? badfast 10-04-2002, 08:29 PM The 4.10 is A lower gear.It will make you run Ahigher RPM.Depending on tran's gearing also. The higher the number the steeper the gear= more RPM. 04BlackSilverado 04-20-2004, 08:55 PM can someone tell me how to post a pic of my truck please? like in my signature? HELP please JWhite8055 04-22-2004, 10:47 PM The image must be available from the internet and then you can use the "img" tag Type in an [ and then img and then another ] then the web address of the picture and then another [ and an / and img and another ] Here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/misc.php?do=bbcode scroll down a bit for the image tag info chevytrucks92 04-22-2004, 10:50 PM Yes, a .410 gear will get worse gas mileage then a .373 BUT it will have more bottem end power too and will have a higher tow rating. Willys33 04-23-2004, 07:55 AM I have 4:10's in my 2000 and can tell you, they only make a couple hundred RPM difference, and seems to keep the truck in a power band it likes. I still get 15.3mpg overall. If you tow at all, you'll really appreciate the 4:10's. These truck should all come from the factory with them.
