yea so, once again another thing happens.

my starter is most likely done for, because when i try to start the car, nothing at all happens and i had the battery tested by advanced auto and they said its fine, and i had the alternator replaced only a few months ago...

i left my haynes manual at home (im visiting family for christmas vacation, yea the damn thing breaks while im trying to relax.)...

my question is: can someone please help me on how to get to the starter? i know where it is and i can see it from under the car, but i cannot get to the bolts, EVEN when i remove the air intake.. i just cant see the bolts!! please help, i need this fixed TOMORROW because i am hours away from home on christmas vacation and i NEED this to be fixed NOW, but dont have money for a damn mechanic to do it. i already bought a new starter... :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown:

alright well i didnt find any posts on here to help with starter replacement, and after bout two hours i replaced mine, so for future reference here's what i had to do...

-remove the air intake, starting by the throttle body.. you'll probably have to also unplug the MAF sensor, but the important area is taking the tubing off right by the throttle intake.
-if you jack the car up and look in the area roughly around the oil drain pan, you will see the starter. its electrically connected with a ground wire and an electrical plug. unsnap the plug and unscrew the big ground wire using a ratchet. now that i think about it, its to the left of the oil filter, below the throttle body.. you'll recognize it if you look at the new starter and look for somthing that looks similar.
-back on top, there are two screws that hold the starter in place.. one is visible below the valve cover (kinda) and below the throttle intake.. it uses a 9/16" to take it off, and alot of force too! once that bolt is off, look at the new starter and you will get an idea of where the second bolt is; i had to feel around for it with my hand because coolant lines were in teh way and you cant move those... unscrew that one as well and the starter drops out..
-it helps to have a second person hold up the new starter in place while you put the bolts back into the new one. reconnect the ground wire, and then the electrical connector... then the battery, and give it a try..

when my car started right up i was so damn happy... BAHAHAHA... and yet saddened... friggin starter cost me 150.00..... hopefully this helps someone in the future.

it just helped me i was about to just scrap the car and move on llol what a dumb design
