17" Wheels on the Neon

Well I figure I'd give everyone a chance to complain a bit about larger wheels on the Neon. I have a '04 SXT (5-spd), and I just bought a new set of 17" wheels and tires for it... now before the laughter starts let me go into some details...

I bought them new from tirerack... the wheels are 17"x7.5", aluminum 5-spokes, and weigh about 20 lbs. The tires I picked were the Kumho AST's (205/40/HR17)... they are supposedly all-season tires but the tread pattern looks pretty agressive on them. I checked the tire weight on these and they only are 2-3 pounds more than stock rubber...

I wouldn't have bought 17" wheels (I was shopping for 16") but it turned out that the same 16" rims I was looking at were only $10 more each in the 17" version... and it also turned out that the tires (Kumho AST 205/40/HR17) were $20 cheaper (EACH) than the Kumho AST 205/45/ZR16's... and of course $700 shipped to my door ready to get put on the car right out of the box was great too...

Well I know that handling will be affected and acceleration may dip slightly, but other than that, are there any real problems to worry about as far as performance?

I had 17*7 205/40/17 on my 2001 the car was lowered and had a kit on it. As for performance remember that they are low profiles tires so they are gonna grip better then stock. When cornering the tires will grip better because u have more tread on the road. I hope that this is what u were looking for as performacen per say.
