I own a 87 Cadillac Sedan Deville and It is my first car. My problem is I need a motor i was told that the car was ran toooooooooo hooooooooot which I feel is incorrect leading to this problem was first the barrens in my alternater went out and broke my belt I got that fixed drove my car two more days and white smoke was coming out my tail pipe and water was dripping so a friend of mine said that my oil needed to be changed so he change it and then when my i parked my car it would try to turn over but it wouldn't start i thought it was the battery so we changed it and nothing so i send it to the shop and i was told that my motor was gone and it couldn't be rebuilt. So i started asking around and i was told that all motors can be rebuilt (True or False) and I would like to know how much is it to get a motor rebuilt or another motor for my car the size motor is a 4.1 liter or 4100 I was also told that I could get a motor out of a oldsmobile and it would fit. (True or False).

-Thanks in advance-

False, an Olds engine will not work, true no one rebuilds the 4100 in the field, you can get a reman 4.5 Cad engine that will work, of course you know that would cost more than the car is worth.

I think GM still makes Reman HT4100's. If not, I think the aftermarket companies do.

This guy have a 90 model Cadillac Deville it have a 4.5 motor in it he want 150.00 for the car the reason for the cheap price is he say it ran hot and he isn't sure what is wrong so he can home and parked it and started saleing parts off of it. Since they say a 4.5 would fit my car should i get the car for the motor or what. Is there anywhere online that I could go to look for a motor I called AutoZone and they have one but it will be 1700 to get that that also include shipping fees to ship the motor to my shop.

-Thanks in advance

Why buy an engine that was overheated, may have serious problems? Yes it will work, some sensors and accessories would have to be exchanged from the 4100, though.
