2002 2.2 Engine replacmentNorth Coast Hotrod 12-20-2006, 10:03 PM I have a 2002 grand am that has a dead Ecotec 2.2 4 cyl . I was wondering how hard it is to replace these engines. I have done many older v8's, but never a front wheel drive 4 cyl. I have a heated shop with lots of tools, and a hoist. I thought it might be done by simply marking what I disconnect, taking my time, and using a good Haynes manual to guide me. I was wondering if anyone that has done these before has any advice... any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Paul xeroinfinity 12-20-2006, 10:30 PM it is best to drop the trany and engine out the bottom. Mostly because the engine to trans mounts are impossible to get while in the car. But if you have a hoist and tools and heat then I dont see why you cant "get'r done" Though that Haynes manual is limited isnt it ? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
