What is wrong with people??????CharmCity 09-20-2002, 08:29 AM My civic got broken into last tuesday.. they stole my head unit, subs, 2 amps(all good quality), over 200 cds, a digital camera, 3 bottles of expensive ass cologne... Now I walk out this morning, and my OTHER window is busted.. and they stole my new head unit.. i'm about to give up on cars man.. I just wanted to vent a little bit... I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish I could find out who did it.. I wouldn't show any remorse.. and they did it at the totally wrong time.. I can't really afford to replace windows all the time(guess I have to) because I have so much other stuff going on right now.. it sucks... sorry.. I just had to vent.. :( :( jimmyfunk 09-20-2002, 10:40 AM will your insurance not cover the windows? I know everyone is always afraid of their premium going up...but isn't that what you pay it for? GraydonSter 09-20-2002, 12:11 PM I can fully empathize. I live in an apartment building with underground parking. You'd think that it would be a safe place to park your car but nope, my stereo was stolen twice in 6 months. They got into the car (CRX at the time) by popping off the B-pillar plastic piece that covers the edge of the window glass, and then popping the glass out a 1/2 inch to unlock the door. I'm thinking about putting in an alarm to protect my new car, but I'm thinking, "Who the fuck is going to care if my alarm is going off in an underground parking lot at 4 in the morning?" I would consider getting a pager alarm but, a) I'm not sure if it can penetrate all the concrete between my apartment and my car, and b) what would I do if I was paged at some early hour of the morning? Go down there with a baseball bat? I'd end up getting into more trouble than the stereo is worth. I've decided that the solution is having overinflated stereo receipts to show my insurance company... :) Fucking thieves, they should all be shot... Graydon CharmCity 09-20-2002, 01:09 PM I only have liability for insurance... so it sucks, I have to pay for everything.. I just put a new window in last week.. :( Melt 09-20-2002, 03:06 PM Originally posted by CharmCity I only have liability for insurance... so it sucks, I have to pay for everything.. I just put a new window in last week.. :( I feel you man, I only got liability too. They stole my stereo, but it was cause my dad didnt lock the damn car:o and then he was like "if I locked it they would have broken the window" And im like :finger: wagsaccordsir 09-20-2002, 09:06 PM Sorry to hear man, I have been there. One week my car was egged, and exactly a week later it was shot, and exactly a week after that my shit was robbed. What sucked the most is that at that time I lived in South Dakota, and it happened in the middle of winter, and I had to drive to work in the blistering ass cold with no window. I think they were testing for an alarm, who knows. I hate fuckers like that. I fortunately have a garage now that I store my ride in. But my wifes car, I leave her doors unlocked, I figure if they want a stereo that bad, open the door an take it, don't bust my fucking window. My suggestion is pull a midnight watch shift with a buddy periodically, you will catch the sons a bitches I guarantee it. Bottom line its somebody you know or within your neighborhood that knows that you replaced your shit. Randomly the odds are slim.. Its definately somebody watching CustomWhips 09-21-2002, 01:43 AM yeah dude i feel you. thats alot of money. thats no reason to give up on anything. The cologne was in the glove box.. the camera was in the hatch area consealed, and the cds were hidden as well.. the thing is.. I don't know anyone in my area at all.. I am never here.. just to sleep.. and to be honest, it is a really bad area.. a few miles out from baltimore.. (ofcoarse not all areas right outside of baltimore are bad, but mine is really bad).. I was supposed to get an alarm installed a while ago but the guy doing it keeps delaying me saying his shop is so busy, blah blah blah... but anyway, i've looked at one place and i'm looking at like 4 more apartments today with a friend.. so i'll be gone from here very soon... wagsaccordsir 09-21-2002, 10:46 AM Good luck!! j.fuggi 09-22-2002, 05:44 AM Originally posted by CustomWhips yeah dude i feel you. thats alot of money. thats no reason to give up on anything. Might work. Melt 09-22-2002, 09:51 PM Better yet get one of those south african alarms that catches the guy on fire. CharmCity 09-23-2002, 08:28 AM Originally posted by Melt Better yet get one of those south african alarms that catches the guy on fire. haha.. I thought about that one.. I would love to.. but that would probably catch my car on fire.. :) I was thinking of just electrifing my whole car.. so when they touch it, it will be like sitting in the electric chair.. guess that wouldn't work either though.. Melt 09-23-2002, 11:04 AM Originally posted by CharmCity ... Actually that might work, just make sure to put a sticker on that says "Warning: High Voltage" to excuse yourself from any liability when they get electrocuted. 93speed 09-23-2002, 03:38 PM Stealing lazy bitches should rot in hell. I had my $200 tool set, cd player and some cds jacked in BROAD DAY LIGHT at SCHOOL. Busted the window into a billion pieces. Stupid fucking school didn't do shit about it and sure enough 5 other cars got broken into over the next month and the school STILL didn't do anything about it. To this day there isn't any extra security  But at least this year I got a high visiblity parking spot next to the busy road so I don't think anybody will mess with it. The funny thing is, the only cds they stole were my copied ones :D There were 2 brand new cds on the seat and the stupid fawkers left them and took all my shitty copied ones. Thank god for stupid thieves :p Probably the best thing to do is put every piece of anti theft equipment you can get on your car. The point is to make your car look like a hard target. That way they'll hopefully move on to an easier car. But no alarm or any anti-theft device will stop people from stealing if they want it bad enough. You can at least make your car look un-attractive to a potential thief. relientokay 09-23-2002, 05:03 PM If you were breaking into a car and the car alarm went of your gonna look suspicious, when a car alarm goes off in a parking lot no one really pays attention but if you were breaking in you wouldnt really want to mess with their car. if my alarm was going off i would get my keys and go to turn it off and if someone was breaking in i would chase them down Johannes 11-19-2003, 02:44 PM Has anybody ever successfully pulled off a midnight watch... set a car as bait and watch for thieves? sageuvagony 11-19-2003, 04:58 PM Some of you may remember my post and how angry I was. Alot of us have been there. In NY, my parents had it BAD with breaking into their brand new cavalier. WITH alarm! over there they can sit in the car ripping EVERYTHING out while the alarm is still going off. They DONT CARE!. They had their dash TORN and ripped off to shit just to steal the computer (ECU). Ever since I got my nice sensitive alarm for my civic, no ones messed with it  Here is my post (thread) http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=116816 wagsaccordsir 11-19-2003, 09:03 PM Has anybody ever successfully pulled off a midnight watch... set a car as bait and watch for thieves? I had to laugh when I read this because it hits so close to home. I was robbed 5 times last year and I think I'm being set-up for a robbery as I write this. Why do I say that? Well Friday I came home from work and my front door was standing wide open, however nothing in the house was touched. I panicked and went immediately to the garage to check on the much prized Accord and all was well and untouched. Then today as I went home for lunch, I have a privacy fence and found both gate doors wide open, with the lock still attached. On of the gate door has a metal rod that has to be manually lifted out of a hole in the concrete and then opened. As I walked around to my back yard, I found my shed wide open, and the lock missing. It houses 2 of my 3 motorcycles. Based on those happenings, and I will dispute any acts of coincidence, I think someone is staking a robbery. I will just have to come to the house at random hours during the day to ensure immediate responsiveness. But when I saw your post I had to laugh, last year I had finally had it with being robbed. I'm in the 82d Airborne Division, so naturally serving in the Army, when it comes to security and perimeter defense, I can hold it down, I dressed in black and lay upon the roof of my house and waited for their Asses. Unfortunately during my late visits to the chimney side, no perpetrators ever posed their existence on my property, so no opportunity to use excessive force. While laying up there late at night, having plenty of time to let devious thoughts run ramped in my mind, I came up with a rather demented but rather humorous thought. In the Army we have what is called 550 cord, which is basically a woven nylon cord that has a tinsel strength of 550 pounds of load per foot. Something like that, nothing really special, actually something you can buy at your local military surplus store. Anyways it dark green in color, hence the camouflage effect. I thought of putting a bicycle in the front yard and tying some cord to the bottom of the seat post, and then off to the side leaving about 75 to a 100 feet of slack coiled up and then the end tied to a stake or the trailer hitch of my SUV, and of course perching myself up on the roof, just waiting and waiting until that straggler comes walking down my street and sees an unsecured bike at the edge of the property, ultimately easiest of temptation for him to pull off a quick steal and make a buck or two at the pawn shop the morning after. Once he or she gets on the bike and starts to peddle, I leap off of the roof of the house screaming and hollering, scaring the shit out him, chances are he will not get off the bike and run, he will panic and peddle faster in attempt to make a clean getaway, and then BAM!! The slack on the 550 cord runs out, and with his accelerated momentum, he will shoot off of the front of the bike quicker than the worst-case endo, so quick he may never ever figure out what happened. Chances are he will never see the cord, because its dark in color and at nighttime, one who knows its there has one hell of a time focusing to see it. He will be completely dumfounded. Then I can either choose to let him go with the unsolved mystery or a guilty complex of karma haunting him for the rest of his, or I can tumble his ass, using excessive force and leave him scarred for life, and with teh unsolved mystery and persistant thoughts of karma. Anyway that was one of my less brutal ideas that would be used in attempts to discourage theft on my property. Excuse me while I go perch back up on my roof... Peace! Thanks for listening! ~J Miataracer 11-19-2003, 09:53 PM ok even though this post was brought back from the dead... THAT IS WAY WAY TOO FUNNY!! I would pay money to see that on video Johannes 11-19-2003, 10:04 PM That's pretty cool you should do the bike cord thing. Why would thieves open your doors up and not take anything? mtdxx 11-20-2003, 01:44 PM looks like you'll be sportin' a hefty bag for a window! that sucks. I usually leave my civic unlocked, I have a stock stereo with only 2 speakers, no one looks twice at it. Good luck with it man dan91SE 11-20-2003, 10:03 PM How many times do I have to say this???? AK-74 + subsonic saboted ballpoints + homemade sound suppressor +pager alarm = quiet, "balistic-free" security for about $1,000. Modified M82A3 + excellent optics + SLAP-T + homemade sound suppressor = "balistic-free" kill from a mile away for about $15,000 (lol I know that's more than your car is worth but it's nice to take a thief head apart from a mile away....) I know most Canadians are willing victims but wtf is the matter with all you Americans? Go play some russian roulette with drug dealers in the neighbouhood to find out which deadbeat had more money than usual (pro's don't break stuff and tend to take the whole car) then away you go. Unless you got off your lazy arse when the alarm went off. D[X]P 11-20-2003, 11:02 PM hahaha this is so hilarious :cwm27: the cord idea would be perfect-do it if u ever get some1 record it i would pay to see it :lol2: :lol2: LeftLaneB*tch 11-21-2004, 04:04 AM I had to laugh when I read this because it hits so close to home. Next time I get bored on the weekend I'm gonna give that a try! Good luck with your situation, man, sounds like bad stuff is goin' on. blackcivic19 11-21-2004, 10:11 PM I was at a part store returning some cheap ass parts and within 10 mins someone was in my car.. I didn't lock the door which I always do and the alarm was going off but I couldn't hear it.. They didn't get nothing but they was goin for the lcd screen but I had it thief proof..Well 10 more mins they woulda had it..I was fired up b/c I had no odea who it was even though they got nothing.. I was thinking about installing a survelliance system around the car and inside just in case.. polacek 11-22-2004, 03:12 PM I have never been broken into, but the way I think is that if someone breaks into my car, that thing is staying there. I put in two relay's that have to be energized at all times for the car to run, one for the starter and another for the fuel pump. This way they can hot wire the starter, but once it is started it will die because the second relay will disengage the fuel pump.....suckers. I was thinking of adding a fire suppression in the car, so if the alarm goes off, it will reset in 5 seconds. If there is still detection, a fire extinguisher would fill the interior of the car. There is an agent I use at work called Argonite. It is set at about 3000psi (yes that is 3000psi!!) and literally sucks the oxygen out of the air, no air = no fire = no breathing. Problem is that windows would break and metal would bend. hehe Beastiek2 11-22-2004, 03:58 PM WOW old thread who cares drumpet15 11-22-2004, 04:20 PM Yeah, I think it's time for this one to go... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
