Well, I was running very low on gas, put in 1/2 tank, drove to the store and then no start for this beast. I tried everything I could considering I had no tools at hand. Still nothing. The car tries and tries to turn over but nothing and the cranking is strong. I took of each of the spark plug wires and put them back on making sure they were tight, visually checked the connections on the plug in things, tried starting it in neutral, took off the gas cap and tried, put the gas pedal to the floor once and tried, kicked the bumper,,lol and cussed at it. My question is this, tomorrow I have to go there and find out something to ease my mind and to at least have an idea what this beast needs. Unfortunately my funds are really limited and I am no mechanic. What are the easy things to check first? My car was running fine before this, no sputtering, no nothing and I am smart enough to know the sounds of problems on the horizon in a motor. I had just driven it clear across town and to a couple other places with no problems. Help please!! Any ideas are welcome.

Welcome to AF.

The basics fuel or ignition.

Start with checking fuel pressure at the fuel injector rail and see if in specs. Could be a clogged fuel filter or flaky fuel pump.

Also, check for spark at the spark plugs to make sure high voltage from the coil packs is good.

I have no idea how to do either of those and just want to know what to listen for when I try to start the car. As I said, Im not a mechanic. I was trying to get some information on simple things to check before I turn it over to a mechanic and have to eat soup for 2 weeks.

Problem solved. It seems the battery in my car didn't have enough amps to fire up all the electronic components to start the car. I did find out that I need a new water pump/serpentine belt though soon. I also want to say that this forum has educated me a bit on my car and I really appreciate that. I wish all of you a joyous holiday season and a very wonderful new year.
