when intstalling a shift kit from the W-body store is required to have the new trans filter retaining sleeve put on. or can i re-use the old one. the retaining sleeve appears to be missing. all that i have is 2 springs 1 filter 4 silver spacers( 1 bigger then the other 3) thanks BNaylor 12-13-2006, 10:17 AM The screen filter bushing is also a seal. Best thing to do is inspect it. If it looks good and the filter feels snug when you install it then resuse the old one. I recall the bushing/seal comes with the AC Delco screen filter kits but I guess the place you got it from left it out or decided it wasn't needed. 98gpking 12-13-2006, 10:19 AM The screen filter bushing is also a seal. I have a spare AC Delco screen filter kit (TF304) and it has the same bushing/seal in it. If you still have the old one installed in your tranny then I would reuse it if it looks good. I've done it with no problems. troy1 12-13-2006, 02:01 PM If the seal holds the filter up when you install it leave it if it falls back out replace it. Just make sure their are no nicks in the seal Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
