Welcome to AF, you should have posted this in the 88 forum, please do in the future, but here goes, under the l/s ft carpet outer area towards the sill, is a common ground junction that needs to be repaired/ respliced.

hey maxwedge thanks alot for the tip i narrowed it down to a ground last night cause when jumping a new ground to the pump it worked. wondering if the problem could be in the door ? because when i shut it thatrs when the car died thanks

You just shook the ground loose when it slammed.

i checked all grounds and they are tight and clean still have no power to pump windows doorlocks or interior lights but if i splice a ground wire into the fuel pump harness it all works and the ground carries the 12 volts at 3.5 amps just drivn me nuts

Did you check that splice under the carpet, you must open it up and inspect it carefully, confirm continuity to gd on all the wires in the junction.

maxwedge you are the man!!!! I could have written the same electrical hart ache story same model year issues. The ground box under the carpet was wet and corroded. I cleaned it up and all is good with the worrld. Just got to find the water source now. Thanks and I hope you are enjoying the holidays as I will now.

kjkolds88 - is this the ground connector you checked?

I had the same issues with my 94 Olds 88. Both ground splices were wet and corroded. Respliced them both and all is back to normal. Traced the source of the water leak and found two areas on the roof. One was a small pin hole that turned into a much larger hole and the other was the lip that the windshield seals against. Will have to remove the windshield and repair the rusted lip. Also found lots of debris in the fresh air intake at the base of the windshield, as the previous owner didn't have a garage. Cleaned out the drains and so far, so good. You may also want to check the passenger rear wheel well for rot. Mine was rotted pretty bad and the trunk filled with water, spilling into the rear seat area.
