CD player hot enough to cook an egg!troyandmarsha 09-19-2002, 01:54 PM  anyone else encounter the problem of the tape/CD player becoming so hot that the CD skips -- the CD doesn't skip on the first play-thru. this happens on multiple CD's. any ideas on this one? DMC12 09-19-2002, 02:18 PM The problem is that the stereos now incorporate high-power amps and don't get cooled enough... so the disc is getting heated by the amp. On my new Suburban they must have realized this was a problem because they put a fan in the stereo. On really hot days, or after playing for an hour or so... I can hear the little fan come on to cool it down. If your handly with electronics, you might consider mounting a fan back there ;) troyandmarsha 09-19-2002, 02:22 PM thanks for the answer. i'll ask olds what my options are. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
