I have an almost severe oil leak(when engine is running) in the oil pan, oil pump area. when i lift the hood up, i can see smoke burning and i hear a very suttle whining noise. Could this be the oil pump going bad?

Well i've discovered that the leak is coming from the oil pump and i was going to fix it myself but the Haynes manual says you need a hoist to lift the engine in order to remove the oil pan. If that's the case then i guess i'll have to pay someone because i don't own a hoist. Is there any other way?
