HOLY V12s batman, its a new GT40BrianCNorton 08-31-2001, 02:26 PM I think its the new road and track that has a sketch of the NEW GT-40. Apparantly ford decided that since they couldnt compete with Viper and Vette, they would just leapfrog them to take on ferrari and porsche. I WANT ONE hakka 08-31-2001, 04:36 PM Any pics or stats? Lizard King 09-01-2001, 08:00 AM Vette and Viper already take on Ferrarii and Porsche. :) Pics? hakka 09-01-2001, 01:37 PM Originally posted by Lizard King Vette and Viper already take on Ferrarii and Porsche. :) In this months issue of Car & Driver, they tested a Porsche 911 T and a 2002 Z06. They got terrible times on both cars, but the Z06 beat the 911T to 60 and though the quarter mile. I can't remember what else they tested, it was in the Supertuner Challenge article. Porsche 09-01-2001, 02:50 PM I read about that too, Did you know that Porsche is coming out with a Boxster Coupe (Looks sort like an F355 Berlinetta) and the all-new non-911 998. Jay! 09-01-2001, 02:56 PM So, what happened to the GT-90? They gave up on it? hakka 09-01-2001, 03:04 PM Wow, Porsche is really expanding their lineup:) Is the Carrera GT going to be produced, or is it still in question? gang$tarr 09-19-2001, 05:02 PM i thought the 911 turbo does 0-60mph in less than 4s like 3.8 or so.... Z06 isn't that fast! hakka 09-20-2001, 06:57 PM I think they tested 4.4 for the 911T and 4.2 for the Z06. Actually, the Z06 does it in 3.9, which is Porsche's official stat for the Turbo. carz 10-02-2001, 06:03 PM :greenchai WRONG !!!!!!! I kinda liked it. It made a good HotWheel, at least... ;) vectorclub 11-01-2001, 11:27 AM I love Ford, but the GT90 was a failed project. Jack Roush could not get the triangle infested styled GT90 to handle good. The media critics and GT40 fans canned the styling. The nail in the coffin was the Saleen S7 project. The S7 realy has very little to do with Ford, but public perception is Saleen is Ford. The new GT40 project has been halted with recent issues at Ford. The S7 is going to be the new GT40 in spirit for now. Knowing Ford they will let Saleen develop great technology and then apply to their projects. I am glad Ford is taking their time with the new GT40. It is still the most successful American racer/production car. If the S7 could win the overall at Le Mans it could move into the #1 spot. The next GT40 will have big expectations to live up to. hakka 11-01-2001, 06:05 PM I didn't know they actually considered the GT40 a production car...only seven were made. Sorry, but the S7 won't ever win Le Mans overall...maybe a class victory, but I doubt that too;) :D vectorclub 11-01-2001, 06:59 PM The term production is one that used loosly. The Porsche GT1 is a considered a production car. I would not bet against Saleen at Le Mans. I would say 2002 or 2003 the S7 will take the class victory. Overall might be a stretch. I think if McLaren can win overall, then Saleen can as well. It is just a question fo time before they win. The S7R has had great success for a car that has less then one year on the track. When the first full year of S7 customer cars is done and delivered, I think you will hear rave reviews from the owners. They built a brand new home for Saleen operations. More and more people are getting on board with Saleen. Saleen S7Rs will have greater success in 2002. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
