What is your "Normal" Temperature?

Hi Folks,

There have been a few questions in the GM Minivan forums about "Overheating" and "Temperature Gauge Too High/Low", or "Temp Goes Up When Stopped", that type of thing.

So I have a Poll Question for you:
What is your "Normal" Temperature Reading in your van?

To try and get a common reference point, please use the Fahrenheit (F) scale I have at the follow page when answering the poll:

Temperature Gauge With Numbers (http://www.my-chevy-venture.com/temperature-gauge.html)

The numbers not shown on the scale would be the smaller marks in between.
Choices are: 170, 177, 184, 191, 198, 205, 212, 219, 226, 233, 240

Thanks & Take Care,

You need to put in there air on or off.
Air off they go up in 220 range before fan kicks on sitting still.
Air on they should run at thermostat control tempt 195-200 sitting still or running.
Also moving down the open road you have no need for the fan.
Road air should keep it at thermostat tempt.

MT,

I agree with your observations, but that's quite a few variables for a single poll. So I just went for "Normal", since that is what I look for when I observe my temperature gauge. I only get concerned when it is not where I am used to seeing it.

What started this poll was my temperature gauge going all the way to the bottom of its range while driving to the airport - NOT NORMAL at all!

I then decided to figure out what those little marks on the temperature gauge really meant, temperature wise, because the manual says that a 195 degree thermostat is supposed to be installed. But my temperature hangs around the 184 mark.

As for the effects of turning the air conditioner (or switching DEFROST mode on), which causes the fans to run, I have gathered some information on that and plotted it out on one of my web pages - (Engine Cooling Cycle (http://www.my-chevy-venture.com/engine-cooling-cycle.html)). I think it shows some interesting characteristics, but I am geek when it comes to this type of stuff (I like to REALLY KNOW what is going on).

Take Care & Keep up the good work (almost 4000 posts - WOW),

Closing this. Goes back to 2006. If anyone wants to start a new poll (90 day limit please,) feel free to do so.
