During a major repair I lost a bushing for my stabilizer bar so I bought a new bolt kit for the left side. While driving on the freeway today I heard a loud metallic "bang!" After parking at my destination I looked under the car. The left bolt/nut/bushings are all gone and the left side of the bar is disconnected. The right side looks fine.

What do you think could have happened? It sounds like there was a lot of pressure on the bar or something because the noise was hurrendous.

Should the stabilizer bar be lubricated at all? I can't figure out why this would happen.
