No keyhibouxj 12-06-2006, 10:49 AM With regards to a 1987 Camry LE that I just bought, the car came without a master key. It did come with two "slave" keys that open the door and start it but doesn't work for the trunk or the glovebox. I don't have the original key code either. Is there a way to make a master key from the slave key? Or is the code hidden somewhere on the car? Thanks. popeye08 12-06-2006, 11:07 AM I think toyota dealer can help you. somick 12-06-2006, 01:07 PM Or you may talk to a locksmith. Some of them are pretty knowledgable. Sam gator2764 12-08-2006, 06:26 AM You should be able to bring the VIN number and your registration to the dealer and they will cut you a key. I don't believe the dealer's or even corporate's computer system can go back that far, even with the vin number. I had the same problem about 5 years ago with my niece's 87 Camry. Most people at Toyota told us you have to disassemble the door panel and then you can read the key code embossed on the lock cylinder. I took the existing key to my local Toyota dealer where the parts counter guy had been there for some time. He just looked closely at all the cuts on the key, wrote down some numbers and then cut a master key from the numbers he wrote down. I was really impressed. The moral of the story is go to the dealer and hope that the parts counter guy has been there a long time and has the same ability. Good luck. Mike jdv45 12-09-2006, 10:59 AM why not call the toyota deal, maybe they can help. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
