so if i take the intake hose completely off and have no restrictions that way will that improve my performance. Theres still a filter on there.

Do a custom cold air intake, go get some 3 - 5 inch tubing and take that from the throttle body to your fender or by the grill, and then get a cheap cone type filter, high performance exhaust would be another thing, you could remove the cat and put in a test pipe or high flow cat, you can build a test pipe fairly easily, put in a super chip, most of your mods though aren't really cheap, it would be a good idea to lighten it up too, I'm trying to do that to mine, if you want you could remove the a/c compressor, that will give the motor a bit of power and take of 30+ pounds

Edit: you wont find many good mods for under $30, and don't take off the intake tubing, less air flow

how will taking the intake hose off make there be less air flow?

And also when I took that tube off this mornin the car has been running better today.

It's not that you are making less air flow that you are drawing my heat into your enigine. If the tube is off the the intake is taking in heat off the engine which is not giving you any hp. If you want for hp through the air. Make a cold air intake. Cold air means more hp.

so if I found a cheap big hose to run down below the engine will that work

ok i hooked up the hose and it works somewhat
i have a 2 second better 0-60 instead of 15 seconds it takes 13 seconds to get there

i gues i had just heard that from a friend who also works on cars with me and i could see why but idk

but even still, warm air = less hp, thats why you have more power when you start up befre the engine is warm, thats how it is on my car and a few friends, but yea, cai = more hp, exhaus is a good way to a bit of hp, i got a really good deal on magnaflow high flow muffler, and it helped a bit, i paid 25 bucks for a 100 dollar muffler, but i have an aquaitence that works at flow masters, that would be the next thing i would do

i used some dryer hosing and used that its the non metling kind and i ran the car around till ti got warm then i tested to see if i got faster
which it did by 2 seconds

ya right now I plan to put a glass pack on and i''m going to add a funnel to my cold air intake (pointing forward), to act as a hidden hood scoop.

You could do a custom hood scoop on the hood if you want too, if you know how to do metal work you should be able to do that

whats a glasspack and doesn't CIA also give you better gas mileage or do i have that backwards?

CIA will give you better mpg, and a glass pack is bassicly a loud high flow exhaust that was really popular in the muscle car era, still used today by some sprint racers i think too, but not sure, it made my v6 sound like a v8 without the tailpipe

yeah mines mostly for sound, its loud but not loud enough to get a ticket, at least not in NY.:grinyes:

i wish i left the tailpipe off on mine, but it was melting off my bumper, its still a bit louder though, it had sounded like a v8 which was aesome, but sadly, im thinking its time to sell the beater, im havin way too many problems

A flowmaster 40 is the way to go. It sounds great.
