Strange electrical problems on my Jeep Cherokeecalia386 11-30-2006, 12:53 AM I own a 1995 Limited Grand Jeep Cherokee(white w/gold stripe). I don't have any problems with it except these weird electrical problems. I thought I would try to get some help with this to get some idea of where to go to resolve it. First of all, I have no problems with my front lights, and a few weeks ago, when I started turning on my turn signals, they would start making a fast flashing sound and flash super fast on the dashboard-while it does this, my rear lights would flash-but I found out both my rear lights flash like emergency flashers. It would just do this at first, off and on-now it does it all the time. Also, my dash computer under the radio flashes all the time now, and won't tell me anything like how many miles to my next maintenance-it only flashes. Also, since a few days ago, my taillights won't come on at night and I have no breaklights anymore. At first, the taillights at night seemed really dim, but now don't work at all. The funny thing is, my taillights come on when I open the door behind the passenger seat door, but not the interior lights like when I open the other doors. The only final problem I see is that the passenger seat won't adjust either-it no longer works. Anyone have any suggestions on this? All my fuses on the front passenger panel are all okay. I do seem to have some loose wires and bundled wires over my gas/brake pedals underneath, but they are all bundled under there and none seem broken or out of place. Thanks for any help...Calia386 croozer 11-30-2006, 11:27 PM I own a 1995 Limited Grand Jeep Cherokee(white w/gold stripe). I don't have any problems with it except these weird electrical problems. Thanks for any help...Calia386 Could be a break in your tail section ground. The signal section is searching for a ground. Vague...but start there. Also..check for shorted bulbs in the rear. tbuckit1 12-11-2006, 05:30 PM I agree with the ground problem, however, before complicating a possibly simple fix, check all of your bulbs. If you determine that all of your bulbs are in good order, I would start by removing the taillight housings and 'piggybacking' the ground wires. Splice into the ground wires close to the socket and attach (screw) the other end to the body, inside the area where the housing mounts, to keep it out of sight. Bad grounds can cause the problems that you have described, and can be a fairly easy fix. My two cents, T SherylUpchurch 12-18-2006, 02:06 PM Hi, I had the same problems except it was a 1998 Lumina (I now own a jeep) and it took months for us to find the problem. My lights were doing very strange things......Finally we found the problem. There was a loose ground wire under the drivers side dash. I couldn't believe that one little wire could cause that much grief..... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
