Manual transmission fluid??eaglesplyer66 11-28-2006, 11:24 PM what type other than mopar MTF can i use in my 5 speed transmission?? neon guy 97 Charlie neon_rt 11-29-2006, 01:01 PM We had this discussion a while back, you will have to do a search. It is not recommended to use non-Mopar fluid in the manual transaxles. There are specific reasons. These tranmissions were designed around certain fluid characteristics. One of those is a friction modifier only found in the Mopar fluid. skatendestroy 11-29-2006, 06:24 PM mopar 7176 is what comes from the factory in pre 2001 manuals penszoil sycromesh you can also use mopar atf-4 das2123 11-29-2006, 11:17 PM Redline MTX fluid is a great, cheaper substitute to use in the manual trannies. The friction modifiers are in ATX fluid, not MTX fluid. eaglesplyer66 11-29-2006, 11:49 PM what came out of the transmission looked like gear oil. any ideas what the lubricant was???
