whats this i hear about jeeps having mitsubishi engines and such...?

ive heard numerous rumors that jeeps have foring engines and transmissions and stuff, i drive a 96 Grand Cherokee Laredo, with a Renix multiport FI engine. <this i know.

but someone told me that i have a MItsubishi motor, ford transmission, and a toyota suspension......whats up with this?

can anyone explain whats going on?

My CD/cassette player says "Mitsubishi" on it. Maybe some of the electronics are Mitsubishi... since Mitsubishi is primarily an electronics corporation.

It is possible for the suspension to be of the toyota nature, I can't answer that for certain, but the engine is not a mitsu (altho in manufacturing with chrysler) mitsu doesn't make a straight 6 engine, and the 318/360 are chrysler engines and always have been and if the trans was a ford you would have to use mercon tranny fluid not ATF+3.
