Hello all,

I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo with a 3.2 v6. I have the timing belt off and I don't think the engine was properly positioned when i removed the tensioner :banghead:

Is it possible to re-position the crankshaft / camshafts with the timing belt off? If so, is it as easy as putting both camshaft timing marks to where the camshaft springs to the vertical?

I noticed that the camshaft sprokecs "spring" into position when you rotate them - the haynes manual isn't really helpful with the proceedure if the belt has broken.

Any help would be greatly apreciated!

Will that be of any help? I understand that the timing was off before you started.

i think one of the best, if not the best, timing belt installation all-text explanations was posted by JLEMOND in a thread over at ITOG.

check out some of the other posts in that thread too. personally i'd be hard pressed to do this without the illustrations in the factory manual, but the guy this was written for had no problems following along and getting it done just fine...

Thanks, i eventually found it.

The mark on the cylinder head makes everything a lot clearer - you really have to look for it!

I will take some pictures tonight and write up a DIY for those that come across the same problem. The book could definately be a lot clearer on this point.

Reminds me why i like working on my bimmer so much more!
