electrical problem or fuse problemchevy888 11-26-2006, 08:44 PM I am a newbie here and have a 1988 chevrolet caprice. One at a time I have lost the function of my cigarette lighter, clock, radio and horn. Is this a fuse problem? If so, where are the fuses? Can I change them myself? Or is this the beginning of electrical problems? Thanks Blue Bowtie 11-26-2006, 11:07 PM Welcome Aboard! Most likely, your '88 will have fusible links instead of main body fuses. There should be at least three of them connected to the main power stud on the starter, and possibly another paralleled off the battery cable near the battery. Your symptoms may be due to a fusible link, failing ignition switch, poor connection at the firewall bulkhead connector, failing bussin in the fuse panel, or poor connection at a battery junction block (on the inner fender). metalkiwis 12-05-2006, 12:54 AM i had the same problem in my 85. it was the fuseable link that comes off the battery. mine was touching the exhaust manifold and burnt up. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
