help with new car?miracle sun 11-26-2006, 12:08 AM lookin to upgrade from the ol' 94 corolla and i need some suggestions. i was lookin into either a '00 toyota celica gt-s or an acura integra gsr my budget is around 11-12k i need something reliable and something somewhat fast thats easy to mod any suggestions are greatly appreciated VR43000GT 11-26-2006, 12:39 AM I'd go with the GTS. Vip09 has done well with his plus I would be afraid that if I bought a GSR it would be stolen like so many of them are. Musashi3000GT 11-26-2006, 01:08 AM For 11-12k why dont you get a car thats actually "Fast"??? TransAm, Mustang GT, SRT-4, 3000GT VR-4, 300ZX TT, hell you can even pick up a 240sx and drop an SR20DET with mods for that much dough. I dont know, compared to that a Celica or a GSR seem wickedly outmatched. RACER D12 11-26-2006, 02:07 AM For 11-12k why dont you get a car thats actually "Fast"??? I paid less then that for my Porsche and its way faster then either of those. What ever you get though you might want to think about a turbo. I really cant explane to you how easy it is to make turbo cars faster. jeepgclwj 11-26-2006, 10:04 AM How about a GTP. It has a real sleeper affect. I got mine for 7000 with 75,000 miles on it. From what I have been reading with less than 1000 dollars you would have a mid 13 second car. Thats pretty good for a 4-door. Mine came with everything from leather to H.U.D. so you get alot for your money...I ran mine stock 14.864@91 mph and I had only had the car for a week or so and had only drove it a few times. I was still driving my Jeep around cause I thought it was fast. The track humbled me... BlackGT2000 11-26-2006, 10:33 PM Track nu,mbers humble pretty well. My mustang ran a 15.8 at 98 miles an hour. How shitty is that. I mean the trap time would indicate much higer ET's. Polygon 11-26-2006, 11:15 PM Holy crap! Yeah, that trap speed indicates at least a second faster. Probably a mid 14 second run. As for the original question. Musashi hit the nail on the head in my opinion. The Celica GT-S has an already high strung engine. Modding will not be easy. The GSR is a bad idea simply because I would be worried about someone stealing it. CassiesMan 11-28-2006, 12:14 AM Track nu,mbers humble pretty well. My mustang ran a 15.8 at 98 miles an hour. My girlfriend's bestfriend's fiance, who races a stock car on dirt tracks, took his Mustang (2003 GT) to Gateway and ran a 15.9@97 for his best pass. jeepgclwj 11-28-2006, 04:57 PM I was recently told that the trap is the last 66 ft. of the 1/4 mile. So you were moving pretty good by time you got to the end. Must of had a bad launch.. BlackGT2000 11-28-2006, 07:58 PM The launch was pretty terrible. The tires roasted through 1st and than continued to spin like crazy through most of second. GForce957 11-29-2006, 12:09 AM lol thats hilarious. i guess dirt racing doesnt do much like drag racing... but i tell ya what, it has to take some skill to dirt race. btw- has anyone noticed the huge rash of what car should i get threads recently? Christmas time... CassiesMan 11-29-2006, 10:41 AM Christmas time... I wish that was my case. This was my conversation Mom: What do you want for Christmas Me: To take European delivery of a Montego Blue 335i Mom: Your getting an iPod and a docking station for your Satalite radio. Which one do you want for Christmas, which one do you want for your birthday? Me: No 335i? Mom: No 335i. TheStang00 11-29-2006, 11:08 AM I wish that was my case. GForce957 11-29-2006, 04:00 PM mmm montego blue 335i I asked jokingly for a car or motorcycle, since I really didnt want anything else, and they are getting me a bike. not too shabby for the 'rents Musashi3000GT 11-30-2006, 10:40 PM I got one better. wife: what do you want this year? me: rent a suite at the Hilton and get that blonde from kendall Mitsubishi to join us for the weekend. wife: haha , funny now seriously what the fuck? me: okay I want a PS3. wife: arent they sold out! me: yeah, they sold in like 1 hour nation wide. wife: so then what? me: hey Im getting you the fucking Z, find me a PS3 dammit! wife:......(long pause)...so whats the number to Kendall Mitsubishi? :iceslolan true story! TheStang00 11-30-2006, 11:49 PM ^ nice KamilMk 12-01-2006, 12:26 AM I got one better. wife: what do you want this year? me: rent a suite at the Hilton and get that blonde from kendall Mitsubishi to join us for the weekend. wife: haha , funny now seriously what the fuck? me: okay I want a PS3. wife: arent they sold out! me: yeah, they sold in like 1 hour nation wide. wife: so then what? me: hey Im getting you the fucking Z, find me a PS3 dammit! wife:......(long pause)...so whats the number to Kendall Mitsubishi? :iceslolan true story! That made my day! Haha, that's freaking great man! But seriously, you are better off getting a Xbox 360... I heard way too much bad about the PS3s... But IDK, maybe it's just gospel...:smokin: Underground_Killah 12-05-2006, 10:49 AM well, i heard sony is doing a sega and switching to games instead of hardware after the ps3.... and the kendell story is awesome.... mine with jen went like this Jen - "what do you want for christmas" Me - "a bumper, a fender, headlights..." Jen - "not for your car, something you can unrap" Me - "you can wrap a bumper, a fender, and some headlights..." Jen - "ok smartass, something that i can buy from a store in the mall" Me - "a 360?" Jen - "maybe" her convo with me is still ongoing with the stuff she wants.... i lost track on page 36 of the stuff she wants. but a 3way wow mush.... i can't belive your wife is that awesome. Underground_Killah 12-05-2006, 10:52 AM oh, and btw to answer the opening question... none of those are "new" cars... i guess "new" is relative. I'd suggest a 240, do the swap... enjoy rwd. The celica can be quick, but ryan (vip) has gone through 2 engines n 2 trannys (and is needing some work on this one).... it was a smart move for him to get the all trac. TheStang00 12-05-2006, 03:28 PM well, i heard sony is doing a sega and switching to games instead of hardware after the ps3.... not sure why they would do that. the ps series is hugely successful. sega did that cause they tanked with their console. Underground_Killah 12-05-2006, 08:26 PM no, the PS3 has caused shooting and robberys... and the ps3 honestly does not offer much long term. The 360 FTW! The harddrive is a good decision by sony, however microsoft shall follow through more and put a 200+ gb in them.
