I love them! Mr. Luos 12-04-2006, 03:00 PM SFC's are on, I'm amazed at how well it handles now! I love them! Don't ever doubt me.    Stiffens up quite well doesn't it? goldz28 12-04-2006, 03:10 PM I was real happy with mine. 666_speed 12-04-2006, 04:19 PM I was talking to the owner of a local frame and alignment shop around here. He has an 1100 rwhp Monza that he drives on the streets all the time, an 82 Camaro with a 406 putting down 450 rwhp, and a few other cars. He wouldn't install the sfc's on my car because he said they wouldn't do anything for it. That if I wanted to keep the car from flexing that I would need a 10 or 12 point cage but other than that I was wasting my money. He never would put sfc's on his Camaro and crap like that. Finally, he agreed he would install them for $300. Another local business who primarily works on rail buggies installed them for me for $100. I'm more than pleased! 97cavalier 12-04-2006, 10:23 PM i hate people that tell you thing that like will not work and are not worth it and your just wasting your money. Some guy at a local exhaust shop told me the same thing about my headders. He was like oh man u made a mistake there, i am like how? He was like they will barley add anything you won't even notice it and it is not worth the money and maintenence. I was like um i got them for $100 and all you have to do is put thread lock on the bolts and make sure they are tight every oil change. He is like man not worth it. people, man i tell ya. Blackcrow64 12-04-2006, 11:36 PM Awesome. Glad to see you got them then. So how goes the targa top project? lol 666_speed 12-05-2006, 08:41 AM This was the next step in the targa top. I'm going my next day off to pick up some new materials to see which works the best. Blackcrow64 12-05-2006, 11:08 AM This was the next step in the targa top. I'm going my next day off to pick up some new materials to see which works the best. Good deal... I'm excited to see the finished product. :) 666_speed 12-05-2006, 12:15 PM I'm not sure if this is normal with the sfc's or not. Now, when I hit a bump, from the passenger side is an ungodly loud thump, sounds almost like something snapping. I've checked everything and nothing seems broken. The sfc's are in solid and correctly (I think). Now, the targa top. I've decided to get some thin plastic and lay over the top and take a heat gun and heat it into shape then fiberglass the plastic, then another layer of plastic, then another layer of fiberglass. That should be more solid, hopefully. After that a thin layer of bondo to smooth it out real good. I'm going to try that next. 88camaroproject 12-06-2006, 09:46 PM i dont think the fiberglass will stick to the plastic good. might just make a peeling onion of targa-ness like that. i remember reading plastic is not easilt bonded with fiberglass. cover the roof in masking tape, then plastic wrap, then glass it with one layer, peel it off the plasticwrap/tape protective cover thing, thats your mold, then you can add layers of glass to it till its thick and strong, cut to fit, bondo, sand, and paint 88camaroproject 12-06-2006, 09:47 PM also make sure theres no air bubbles, they weaken the fiberglass alot Mr. Luos 12-06-2006, 10:00 PM I'm not sure if this is normal with the sfc's or not. Now, when I hit a bump, from the passenger side is an ungodly loud thump, sounds almost like something snapping. I've checked everything and nothing seems broken. The sfc's are in solid and correctly (I think). Describe the type of bump better. Speed bump?? You might be hitting the SFC on the cement. Savage Messiah 12-07-2006, 12:08 AM you check the LCA bolts? 666_speed 12-07-2006, 12:39 PM Describe the type of bump better. Speed bump?? You might be hitting the SFC on the cement. Lol, no. They're higher up than my ground effects are. I would hit the ground effects about 2 inches before I would hit those. I mean a bump like, new pavement bump, or 1/2" deep pot hole. Something like that. The sound only happens every so often though, it's not an every time thing but when it does happen it's so loud that I force myself to stop and make sure nothing is broken. 666_speed 12-07-2006, 12:40 PM I checked them, I'll check them again later too. Thanks. Savage Messiah 12-07-2006, 09:20 PM make sure to loosen and re-torque them with the weight of the car on the wheels (or the rear at least), not with the back hanging in the air 666_speed 12-07-2006, 09:46 PM The instructions said to 90 ft/lbs. I believe. I don't remember haha. Savage Messiah 12-08-2006, 10:15 AM just make sure weight is on the suspension when theyre tightened... otherwise theyll bind FormulaLT1 12-08-2006, 11:49 AM Have you checked your sway bar end links? Genopsyde 12-09-2006, 07:22 AM Stiffens up quite well doesn't it? that's gross. goldz28 12-09-2006, 07:34 AM When they put the sfc on what kind of lift did they use. The car is suppose to be flat. So on all four tirs annd not a sissor lift, or just a jack etc. Not this one http://www.superlifts.com/images/s9f-big.jpg one like this http://www.lanzoni.com/Fianco%20X2_22.jpg 666_speed 12-09-2006, 09:21 AM I know, I gave them the directions. I had my brother drop the car off because I was at work. Honestly, I do not know how they did it. 97cavalier 12-09-2006, 01:15 PM you let your brother dirve it? the one who blew up like 20 cars, lol. I hope they used the right lift. Savage Messiah 12-10-2006, 12:51 PM if they didnt you could have some now-permanent frame twist Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
